bike looks timid..is a good handler (heard so)
nyways back here @ kanpur
the yamaha guys are selling r-15 telling people that
zma is a 17 bhp
pulsar 220cc (yup 220cc) is a 17 bhp (which infact is a 20bhp)
and yzf r 15 is 20bhp (which infact is a 17 bhp)
can u believe that
there are so many peeps who don't even bother to check up the manual and so they will end up buying a bike which happens to be only 17bhp
I feel pity for them

This is what my bike manual says,

"R15's running-in period is 1000 kms.For the first 500 kms stay below 5000 rpm and ride the bike at variable speed. For the next 500 kms stay below 7500 rpm.Rev the engine freely thru the gears"

i completed 750 kms so far.Today i rode my bike at 110 km/hr thats around 7500 rpm.I was just taking a look at this "pulsar running-in" guide thread. It says about altogether a gentle different approach towards a new bike.Anyways R15 doesn't need all that right?

Being gentle on the engine is always nice.. but no point companring Pulsar's running-in guide with R15's
the first 200-300kms are crucial... that is when the real engine "breaks-in".

Also i would like to know from R15 owners about the quality of After sales Service provided by the Yamaha.
I got myself a Black R15 last month from Pacer Motors Bangalore...had given it for servicing day before yesterday...was not very happy with the servicing...not a noticeable difference in riding smoothness after service; thought the bike was smoother automatically after 600 odd km...more importantly I wanted to change the silencer cap which got damaged when another bike rammed into mine from behind just before the servicing was due...but the guys dont have the spares in stock; not even in the warehouses ...so I have to ride with a twisted cap till the part arrives.

Also I asked them about Teflon coating for the bike...the showroom guys gave me a cost of 2500 bucks; and suggested to go for Laquering instead, saying that it lasts much longer; but costs 5k!!!
Can anybody throw more light on this? Is laquering effective and is the cost justified? or can I get it done from somewhere outside?

Also could someone please tell me if fitting HID lights would void the warranty?I'm especially not happy with the single light on low beam...

OKies i too picked from pacer but my 1st service was done well...

Coming to teflon take ur bike to panache motors on old madras road they will get it done for 650 bucks its damn neat..
lacquering is better than teflon but if you have the money then you may do it... But i wudnt personally suggest tht...

HID's will void warranty...

The R15 has the v-ixion engine tuned for more power. The entire body is the same too minus the front fairing. The UCE is imported from indonesia while the Steel Deltabox frame is made in India. To this add frontal brackets and a new fairing (supp. wind tunnel designed) and a revised handlebar/headlights and you have the R 1 5.

R15 does 0 to 60 in 3.2 seconds . . FZ16 does 0 to 60 in 5.5 seconds.
But why there is a talk that R15 is sluggish in lower rpms and FZ16 is brutal enough to rule the streets?

Cos, higher torque=more pulling power+lower RPM needs.
And on street, not every person can be capable of accelerating at high RPMs like me n u. SO, that's where a high-torque FZ comes into play..it pulls awesomely right from the beginning(supposedly..dint ride it yet).
