i started riding my bike when i was 13 year old ( motor cycle without gear)

i first learned to ride LML that was my 1st bike which i learned my dad taught me on open roads

then i rode scooters and pulsar at age of 15 and 16,
while learning i popped up many wheelies , but learned to ride,

don't worry riding is not a rocket science (try riding in open areas instead of traffic jams then after some time try to take your bike in traffics )

just take your bike and ride it your way don't think about other feelings

and about learning from your younger's is not a bad thing , things can be learned from any one , if you are curious to learn , age of teacher does not matter,

        Waiting for your advise.
I kind of had the same experience as you when I started learning. I had just turned 18 and was learning on my 16 years old cousin's Pulsar. Anyway, this is nothing to be ashamed of. Just be bindass and ride away. Try early morning rides, if possible. That way, nobody can see you

this uncle feeling is only in your head man . at 26 you are not 'old' in any sense . get this mental block outta your head .

you now already know basics of riding and im sure you can practice riding alone now in mornings when traffic is low .

I am in same seat as you! I am 25 and learning to ride a bike! In fact, I am a complete beginner - figuring out the basics.

Do what the others tell you - it is all in the head. There is no age to learn to ride. Yes, we could have learned biking when we were younger and had lots of time to spend freely (after bunking lectures ) but hey, better late than never, right?

Part of this reluctance is due to the "I should have done this sooner" feeling. You think "these kids have learned biking, I should have done it at their age too". Forget that. Swing your leg over a bike and you forget your age.

Another thing is "what if I fall"? At least I am embarrased by it - a 18 year old falling off a bike is OK (I guess), but for a 25 year old, isn't it embarrassing? We are supposed to be more "dignified". Again, its all in the head.

So relax. Shed all your fears and inhibitions. I know that is what is holding me back - I need to practise what I just said.

hey.... i learnt to ride when i was 17 years old........ at that time i was in my 12th and most of my friends used to bring bikes, mopeds, etc...... and i used to ride a cycle...... i used to envy them, as to how perfectly they ride their bikes... my father doesn't know how to ride a bike, and so never bought one..... and so i never had the chance to learn........

I was at first reluctant to learn from my friends, i thought that they'd make fun of me....... but they gave me so much support and encouraged me...... by lending their bikes...... and taught me the basics... after i learnt the basics, everyday after school i would borrow a bike from my friends usually (YAMAHA CRUX) and practised......

the thing that made me to somehow learn how to ride was the urge to learn, as i didn't want to become lik my dad ...... after tat i graduated from high school, by then only i bought my second hand CT100.... i used to take it out for a spin everyday, and learnt wat all things should be done in an emergency situation, etc..... now i've surpassed most of my friends....... now they're looking at me in awe......

the desire to learn should come from within, once u have that urge, tat burning desire....... u won't care abt wat others say... u'll only concentrate on learning....... now u don't seem to have tat urge to learn..... tat's why u r thinking so much abt wat would others say...... let them say anything thing abt u ......... U don't let them distort ur goals......

and one more thing ....... don't worry abt falling ....... if u know how to ride a cycle....... then u'll never fall.... i've never fell down from a bike, when i was learning ......... only once i fell... tat too it was my mistake..... don't ever think abt falling...... only if u think abt it u'll fall....... be confident in urself......

I learnt riding a geared motorcycle at the age of 15, though I started riding gearless scooters at the age of 11. Just forget about all the fears and start riding. Wear a helmet with a dark visor. That way no one will know who is riding the bike, until you remove the helmet. You can practice early in the morning since there will be less traffic on roads.
It's never too late to learn a thing, you just need to have the urge to learn things.

my story retold by another guy!!

dude i'm 20 and still learning to ride......first started learning when i was 19+........most of my friends knew how to ride.....2 of them had even tried litre classes!!

so i was(sometimes am) scared that if i fall people will see that i dont know how to ride......but u know what every time i swing my leg over a bike i get that good-good feeling........i become a little confident and i take off with the bike.........and u know the other day i came to my home on my friends bike and my mum was outside talking to one of the neighbor aunts....the aunt was like...."parth ko bike aati hai".......and my mum had the most satisfied smile.....i felt like i'd made her proud

so it really doesn't matter if u are 26 and still learning........but u will repent later in your life if you give up now!!.........going out in the morning hours does help as the traffic is less........

so go ahead and be prepared for the crashes.......people will stare...some will yell.........but please remember you won't accomplish anything if you are scared of getting your hands dirty

                        best of luck
A good long ride can clear your mind, restore your faith, and use up a lot of fuel.

                          I rode my dad's M80 when I was 17. I was able to ride a TVS50 well before that age , around class 6 or 7th, I think.

                          I'm 30 now and riding a RTR 180.

Come on...don't worry about others. You are learning for yourself, it is going to help YOU. So, why feel shy?

Hero Honda or HMSI is conducting riding classes in select cities, check and learn from them, it will be professional.

BTW, Dr.APJ Abdul Kalam doesn't know to ride even a bi-cycle, his friend and collegue Mr.Aravamuthan told this in a meeting, I was there in that meeting.

That uncle feeling is BS. Get on with the ride dude..
I was 21 when I learnt to ride(that too on my own bike), it's been 2 years now and I've clocked almost 50,000 kms.

Ride hard, Rise safe.. Good luck!

They are all missing on what life is about
You only live once so take hold of the chance
Don't end up like others the same song and dance
