Default Need help on a Royal Enfield

Hi guys ,

Planning to a buy a second hand Royal Enfield . I've found one in one of my friends building . Its not used for quite some time now .

Posting the pics below . I dont have much info about the bike. Just that its a year 2000 make , 52k on the odo. Don't know exactly which model it is.I beleive its a Machismo 350(not sure) .
The seller has quoted 25k for it .
Im attaching a few pics,Sry for the bad quality , Need help from you guys regarding
1. Firstly which model is it ? Is the Machismo 350 ?

2. Since RE's come with 2 types engines , CI and AVL . Which one does this bike have ? Whats the difference between the two ? Is it only the difference in the thump or any performance difference as well? Will it have the same thump as the Std 350 ?

3. Is it possible to put this back on road again ? If yes how much should it cost ?

4. And finally , Would it be worth it ?

Looking forward for your valuable suggestions guys .
Thanks .

Hi Penno,

This is definitely the 4S CI Machismo. However, 25K for this is too much. My ideal deal would not be more than 15K. The engine looks pretty decent but this bike needs a major cosmetic surgery! I see that the owner has changed head lamp and handle.

Please check if the papers are complete for this bike and if you are ready in putting in money (15K - 20K more) the bike will be in good shape!

My friend bought a used bullet 350 for 30k from a dealer. It had new tires, and bike looked not more then a year old. The dealer had done all the cosmetic changes/wiring needed.

not more than 12 thousand INR for this bike. Bringing the bike to original condition will definitely cost you around 6-8 K. So take that into consideration.

sorry forgot to add this. Not worth it. There are any number of well maintained chuggers on the road. Watch out, be patient and then get a good deal.

^^ agreed, but the fun of doing up and restoring a bike has its own fun. around 15-18k would be a decent price for this bike, since it looks like its just been sitting around on its bum.

you would need new tyres, wiring, lights.

Change all that has rusted, and maybe a few paint touch ups here and there.

The engine needs to be flushed completely and washed thoroughly inside out, including the gear box/ clutch etc.

Change all cables, since they wouldve gotten brittle and hard over time. accelerator, de comp, brakes etc.

Also get the brakes serviced, washed, cams lubricated.

Change all hub bearings, and sprocket bearing also.

Rear chain will be washed and cleaned with kerosene or diesel.

Cosmetic work can be done. But mechanical work first.

Im guessing in about 15k you can get this bike on the road as good as new.

Dude, whats your location? If you are based somewhere in Southern India and want to buy a CI engine Bull, you will have many better options. Why buy this and put in money?
