Default Gladiator Type ss problem

Hi Friends,

I own yamaha gladiator type ss 2008 model. Since 2-3 months I am facing drop in top speed and mileage of the bike. Its top speed is reduced to 70 km/hr. I had reached upto 103 km/hr before. And mileage is droped to 35 km/Lit. I have adjusted carburetor setting through local yamaha mechanic, but there is no difference. When bike reaches to speed of 60 km/ hr, it gives jerks. Sometimes, its speed comes down to 40 km/hr and again slowly starts increasing.

Please help me on this issue. Bike have covered 22,000 km till now. Serviced after every 2000 to 2500 kms.

Thanks

It's time you get the cylinder kit+valves replaced!

it cant be the cylinder kit etc. without investigating other possiblities.

-is your bike consuming engine oil??
- whats the condition of the oil? when was the last you got it changed?
- last time you replaced the air filter and spark plug?

- Check the clutch for slippage, slippage is that the engine will build up speed, but the bike will not move. check for that.
- Your only other issue seems to be a clogged carburettor which has not been set properly. Get it done by another mechanic.

Other things you can get checked is -

- Chain tension, and make sure its clean ( properly clean, not muddy brown clean ), if not, get it washed with kerosene, sprayed with water, then compressed air to remove water, and then lubricated

- Check brakes for grabbing, Both front and rear wheels should rotate freely when on stand and either is off the ground.

Nothing to do with early mishap. Mechanical stuff goes wrong at the unexpected times! Though, it is not a surety, but a thorough checkup of the machine Gladiator5S is recommend, from the ASS.

Normally the kit blows early due to improper running in.

Hi

-I dont think there is engine oil problem as I change it at the time of each servicing (after 2000 to 2500 kms)

-I have just changed the spark plug 15 days ago, on request of mechanic. But we didnt get ngk spark plug, so we fitted champion spark plug. Mechanic told me tht its also very good company.

-Actually my borther had used my bike very roughly in initial period, so will it be the problem of clutch plates? But mechanic says we dont need to change clutch plates. I had discussed all these issue with him, but he says, it happens due to summer.

-Please let me know if there is good yamaha mechanic in pune, because I am not much happy with the service of current mechanic. But he is better than yamaha service center mechanics from where I bought my bike.

Thanks for your replies.

one more thing, I havent changed factory fitted air filter, do I need to change it?

Check the air filter first... Mine needed to be changed recently at around 21,000 km...

N is the spark plug of the same configuration?? Spark plug gap is around 0.6 to 0.7mm for the gladiator... I wound recommend getting the company recommended spark plug just to be sure... Should be easily available in Yamaha showrooms in pune...

----My mechanic changed the pickup coil 1 week before, and there is slight difference in top speed. It goes upto 80km/hr now which was 70 to 75 max. Before jerks were appearing at speed of 60, now they appears at speed of 75 or 80km/hr. But jerks are there. pulling power is also not that great, no improvement in mileage, it is still 35 to 38 km/lit

--I am really tired of these problems now, so please help me to make me feel my bike like new one.

---Thanks
