UPDATE :- if you want to know about how to get this done in short refer page no 34 post no 334...
it is explained in short to avoid confusion. hello there. ![]() I own a fiero f2, its a 2004 model. clocked 51k and recently got the entire engine work done its almost been a month I've been looking forward to put up an hid bulb on my bike by converting it to full dc.. ![]() i ordered a hid h4 kit from ebay but having a forum discussion with sajit and getting mind cleared up with the projectors i canceled the order and started hunting for projectors... thanks to sajit i saved my money ![]() until then my plan of action was as follows :- 1. get coil rewinding done 2. install ape rr unit 3. go for 2 projectors 1 for high n one for low as the coil would be re-winded and the rr would be changed it could easily hold 2 hid projectors. ![]() i mentioned 2 projectors as i couldn't find any h4 type projectors anywhere here locally (i searched junk n scrap and even asked car acc shops) so i plan to go for any 2 projectors with any socket dedicated hi and lo beams. i got the stuff opened up today for coil rewinding and my mech says it can't be re winded as its filled to the brim. i talked about putting up a bigger stator coil but he said that i can't do that too because my magnet is small. ![]() deciding to go for a bigger magnet and a bigger coil i found out i can't install it in the case of the engine... and also it would cost a bombhere's the pic of the coil. ![]() now as i can't install 2 bulbs with this setup i have to settle down for h4 socket proj which gives me high/low beam but everywhere online its available in a pair which i don't need. ![]() now i plan to go for abhijeet's circuit for dc conversion and keep my stock rr but since h4 is not available and coil rewinding cannot be done how can i use hi/lo beams??? ![]() a friend suggested to put up 2 hid proj, 1 for high n 1 for low, but he said that he can design a switch that will lit only one at a time... thus sucking equal batt... 35w at a time, is it a good idea?? ![]() ![]() ![]() i am confused totally. i don't know what to do. please please biker souls help me on what should i do now i badly want hid projector on my bike....... ![]() by the way sorry for the quality of the image clicked for my phone, it looked good on my phone but looks terrible now.. Query Approved.
@NANOtechnology: The picture that you've posted is HUGE! I would request you to dial down the resolution to 800x600 pixels for better visibility.

I think your mechanic is layman and he has never done rewinding. Basically for rewinding they will remove the windings done and will rewind again with a better gauge wire. Generally 19. So better the wire, better the power.
Directly feed the rewinded coil output to APE RR and then to battery. What are you looking for exactly ? Wanna go with twin beam ?? Projectors are good only for low beam unless you have a dedicated high beam lens which is hard to source. You will have to use 2 HID's,1 on projector for low and 1 on ellipsoidal lens for high (as in P220). If you are not particular about projector looks and you are not bother about glare to oncoming vehicles I would recommend you to plonk H4 HID into reflectors. You will gain better high beam which is actually very essential when on Highways.. Let me know if you need any more info. Sajit, Abhi & Drvtm can also give in their inputs. Guys hiding ?? ![]() Edit - Its better if u can reduce the size to 800X600 px

If u settle for an H4 HID with stock reflectors, then u dont need to go for a coil rewinding, just re route the light coils to the APE RR, and it will support without any issues as the stock coil is 60W+ so it can handle a 35W HID with a healthy 7AH batt. If u desperately need twin setup, u've to go for the coil rewinding as the power wont be sufficient to feed two HIDs. U dont need to design a new switch to operate 2 HIDs as the stock switch will permit only one beam at a time, provided, route the power wire through the relays if the HID kits are not having it. But every switching between 2 HID kits will drink a good amount of juice from ur batt, cant compare with an H4 as the bulb will be always on and only the focus is changing by the solenoid. Am not sure that Abhi is still using the parallel charging circuit instead he's using a custom RR for his 100W halo, Abhi r u there?

thanks a lot guys for helping me with this issue..
@shreeni thanks for letting me know about the stupid mech's intelligence quotient. any ways were can i find an auto electrician?? can i get it done by a person who does winding in fans?? i have no idea about who does it, so anyone please let me know where in mumbai can i find a trusted auto electrician. now as far as two projectors are concerned it would need two hid kits right??? so will it cost me double?? thinking of settling for an h4, as i hardly use high beam in my current halo. the only reason i use high beam is for flashing/pass. regarding ape rr i can't find any piaggio's svc's in mumbai on the net, so were should i look for that?? oem ones ofcource. @sajit If i go for 1 projector like yours then coil rewinding is not necessary considering a single 35w hid, right? but can the ape rr be just swapped with the stock rr, does it not need to remove ground from coil and other stuff posted on that thread, or to be on a safer side should i go for coil rewinding and follow step by step instructions as in that thread (convert ac/dc bike to all dc) if its not eventually necessary then i won't go for rewinding.. hi i had installed a projector headlamp for my fz.... i dont think that you will have enough space in the fiero headlight to fit two of the projectors....
and also while buying a projector keep in mind that you get a projector which will be able to house an h4 bulb because most of the projectors available in mumbai central can house only an h3 and there is not enough space to put in an h4 bulb or hid in it....

Obviously u need two kits for 2 lenses. If u get a pair at the cost of one kit, then ur cost wont get doubled Look for yellow pages for PIAGGIO APE showrooms, they will guide u. Quote:
For a 35W HID, no need of rewinding am quite sure of it, do the other procedure and watch out for the perfo, if u r still not happy with that, later u can rewind it OK?If u r not able to get a APE RR, then go for Pulsar UG4/XCD RR which is capable of driving an HID, but if any plans to go for twin setup, go for APE RR. I've'nt seen any H4/dual beam projectors in our desi vehicles or even foreign brands, only after market fittments having it. So its litterally screwing up the performance by making it dual beam. Mine is a dual beam but am not satisfied with the high beam spread because of this. I think u've got a wrong concept about H4 projectors. H4 projector means its having both beams but that doesnt mean it should've two bulbs.Take the case of a normal H4 HID, its having only one bulb and the solenoid makes the focus change and in effect both beams, likewise, in an H4 projector there will be a solenoid activated sheild makes the dual beam, when the solenoid is not activated the sheild position will be half closed from top and light spread will be available only on the bottom side within the projector so thats the low beam with a nice spread, when the solenoid is activated, sheield is lifted upwards and more light is released to outside from top and hence the high beam. Dedicated projectors wont've solenoids but the shield is fixed like in the P220 lens. If the projector socket is for H3, normally its designed for fogs with a beam spread near the vehicle, so u cant use that as a low beam projector. Each projector is designed to perform certain beams, so putting a non standard bulb by doing some bulb base mods wont give u desired results. Shree r u listening? For a better understanding And this is how a projector makes dual beam with a single bulb with the help of a solenoid and a sheild. ![]() And this is how a normal reflector does the job
