  • New to Biking, Need some help....

I recently bought a second hand pulsar 150, 2007 model.

I have to report a few problems, but I dont know how to handle them at present. Could anyone please tell me how to approach the problem?

    Problems:

    1. My reserve indicator (red light on instrument panel) and my fuel level indicator are faulty. I have enough fuel in my bike, not even put to reserve yet (using the reserve valve on the left side), but inspite of that the reserve indicator always glows.
    2. My center stand is broken. How much will a new one cost in Banglore?
    3. I did a fully paid service from an Authorised Bajaj dealer in Bangalore, and the mechanic said that I need to change the clutch plate, though not immediately. How much should one cost in Bangalore?
    4. Also I am having a lot of difficulty in shifting from 1st gear to 2nd gear? they say its normal in Pulsar, but I am skeptical about that. I feel it gets jammed at that stage, I need to press real hard the gear lever. Will this be because of a faulty clutchplate? Also when I decelerate, when I lower from 4th to 3rd gear, there comes in a knocking sound from the engine. Is this normal?
    5. My Self-Start does not work always, mechanic said that I have to change the battery. But my horn, lights all work fine. At times, when the bike suddenly switches off, I cannot start the self. Is it a problem with old battery or Self Start switch? How much will a new battery and a new selfstart switch cost in Banglore? Or how much will the whole self-start setup cost?

Please do reply, I have no idea how to go about these problems.
    Awaiting reply.

I guess ur mechanic is right when he says u need to change battery and clutch plates. Gear hardening could be solved by that and self start issue too.

I would advise u to change the accelerator and clutch cables too

Ajay, for all the above issues, pls take it to the nearest Bajaj A.S.S & get them fixed. Do not take the motorcycle to a local mechanic until you're knowledgable on your motorcycle.

          Thanks a ton...

Thanks a lot for replying, actually I am new to this Forum and was trying to find where my thread went to. Anyhow this weekend I will be taking the bike to Bajaj first, but am skeptical about that as they are not att all customer friendly, and also they are always out of stock, I am talking about the Bajaj Centre at Madiwala, Banglore.
Does anyone know any better Bajaj Authorised service centre in Banglore, preferably near madiwala, kormangala or hosa road areas.
The engine is an excellent condition one, only these electricals are faulty. Hopefully I can restore my girl to all her glory in a few weeks. After all, its my first love.... My first bike...
