Hi,
A couple of queries. I've heard that use of Engine Flush is a good practice to restore the bike's performance. It removes all the sludge and then improves compression. How far is this true? And how good is it compared to the process of de-carbing?? I ride a Honda Unicorn (35,000 kms done) and I have come across a thread saying that engine flush ruined the engine. How true is this? Any Unicorn Owners tried out this process and got better results? Do shed some light! Thanks a million miles! ![]() Regards, aRJun

I have done the flushing on my bike(hh hunk) at 30000 kms. but with that, I had also got the oil filter changed. the engine resonsiveness improved but very slightly. also, the oil then remained in the original colour for about 1200 kms of riding. i had actually drained every bit of oil in the engine and then flushed and then put a new oil..
flushing does not ruin the negine if done properly. i have heard from some ppl that it affects the oil seals and piston rings but have not got any strong technical reason as to how it happens.

I too have read about the harms of engine flush. I flushed my engine. Unnecessarily, I should add as my engine was relatively new at that time. anyway I was very careful as to follow proper procedure (from internet of course
). Anyway, the reason I flushed was because I was changing over to fully synthetic and I did not want any contamination from the old mineral oil. I guess one can argue about my action. Its been a year + 16000 kms has gone by since then and my engine is still purring as new, no problems. I wouldn't encourage nor discourage anyone about the use of engine flush as I lack proper knowledge. Just sharing what I actually experienced.

Hi Friend, ENGINE FLUSH the main purpose is to remove the greasy sediment (only in case if the bike is not used for a long time) and some metal dust from the engine gearbox...
While you flush it brings out some carbon deposits from the line. Main thing it may affect the valve seating and end up in creating some knocking sound. For a bike done only 35000 Kms it is not at all needed, if used regularly and there will not be much improvement in performance. The only advantage in this process is - free flow of oil. For your bike it is more enough if you change oil once in 2500 Kms interval. Still if you are interested better drain off your oil fill some low cost oil ride for some 100 Kms. again drain it till the last drop and Refill with any Better oil of your choice.

Thanks Rockrz for the input! Some readout about Oil Seals and Piston Rings issues were the reason why I posted this. Quote:
Thanks kaynmantis. Improper Knowledge can cause issues. The seller whom I contacted said that i just have to pour this 100+ ml of Flush into old oil, idle it and then replace with new oil. Quote:

Yaar, the Bikes can run in stock condition for miles depending on its maintenance.
The slight sound variation may be due to worn timing chain or its tensioner, valve setting adjustment all these has to be done on regular interval. I think at 20000 kms the timing chain has to be replace check your service records and the Valve clearance should be checked during every oil change. If you can feel big difference in the bike performance then you can go for a comp check..

Hi Arj - Good to hear you after TSG2G!
Actually engine flush can be done if switching from Mineral to Synthetic. However, it has good and bad effects. I'm in the line of suggesting for the engine flush for vehicles done some pretty good on the odo. Go through the article on the engine flush might get an idea. Hope it helps!

bikes with less odo reading do not require flushing, say 30k or 40k.
