  • apache 150 engine mods

hi everyone, i own a 2007 apache and am planning to go for some engine mods. am planning to go for the 160 cylinder kit, for which i'll have to alter the ignition timing.
i basically need some idea abt the timing mechanism, and would like to know how to get it done the right way.

a friend of mine has upgraded his apache to a 63mm piston one, which is the last size as of rtr, changed over to rtr 180's tci and was telling me about an altered camshaft. may i know where could i get an altered camshaft from, for the 180cc setup.

    thanks

would be vry kind if mr. Joel too helps me out

    Query approved.

Would be very kind if you use the punctuation marks and follow grammar rules more religiously while posting on xBhp. Thanks.

The RTR 180 Bore and piston are straight fit on the Apache 150...You can either widen the head dia to suit the bore or fit the RTR 180 head with valves also.RTR180 bore+piston kit =2,300/-. Head with Valves=5,500/-. Price indicated are approximate.
Overboring present 150 bore to 180(63.5) will remove case hardening on sleeve and will lead to accelerated wear.

Sure sir. I'll make it a habit to use punctuation marks wherever required:-)

            Hello Atul
I am already running a 180cc fiero with a piston size of 62.5mm
As PSR mentioned, you only need to replace your block and piston kit to that of the rtr 180, as the stroke length of both the bike's are same, its just a straight fit job.
However you'll need to enlarge the head area to match the bore, the stock head area is 57mm, you'll need to get it widened to 62.5mm too.
You'll need a Lathe guy for this job.

Coming to the Camshaft, you don't need to replace it, i am using a stock CAM.
Do this first, and feel the performance difference, if in case you need more power, we can help you achieve that too.
Giving a lot to a fiero.
Expecting a lot from a fiero.

and Bro can i go to any lathe for the head job or it has to be done by some expert only??

Yes, i changed the TCI unit to the RTR 180's too, its optional though, first just get this work done, if in case you need more response, only then swap the tci to the 180's.

You can go to any lathe guy who works on cylinder heads.
Just ask them to match the head with the bore, it would be nice if you find an expert.

The answer is yes..but why ? when RTR 180 bore+piston and head are readily available .

If i go with rtr 180's head then I'll have to go for bs 29 carb i guess?? is it so or can i use the present carb with bigger jets on a 180 head?? And will the present timing chain go with either of the rtr heads??

My clutch plates are just under 2000kms old. was wondering if rtr 160's clutch plates and tension springs could provide some extra boost! should i go with these??

Whether you use RTR 160 head and bore or RTR 180 bore and head you have to upgrade to BS29 carb to realise the full potential.Timing chain need not be changed. .....and clutch plates too need not be changed, unless they are worn.
