Smile Self start in any gear.

Hi all,

I have a small doubt.
I've seen people starting their pulsars and yamahas in any gear using the starter. I mean, pull in the clutch, press the starter and voila, the bike comes to life.
But, I don't get this privilege on my Karizma. Is it the matter with all Karizmas (ZMA-Rs/ZMRs) or just something wrong with my bike?
I compulsarily have to bring the bike to neutral to start it. I noticed it for the first time today in traffic when my hand went loose on the clutch and the bike halted.
[Heard a lot of abuses amidst the honking. ]
Well, I'd to shift to neutral and start the bike. It started without any hassles. But in gear, it doesn't even make an effort whatsoever!!!!

Please help.....

this is all because of a small clutch switch near clutch lever, i think every self start bike has one switch but it may not work because of its malfunctioned now or any other reason. just checked your out.

its really feels proud when u start in self.

i felt bad when one day i drove splendor old one and just stalled middle of traffic and need to go thorough all the gears for neutral then start.

^^ +10.
The only reason is clutch switch. Either its disconnected or malfunctioned.
Btw, choose the most appropriate gear according to need/speed & bike wont stall, unless there's any problem.

Okay... I didn't know that there was something like a clutch switch too. I'll get it checked ASAP.

If you are in a real hurry (in the middle of traffic), you can go for the self start in any gear.
But otherwise i would suggest getting back to neutral and doing it, as it hardly takes a couple of seconds more.

It happens in my RTR160 as well. My bike self starts in any gear. When I press the self starter button, the bike keeps on jerking forward and then comes to life.
Does it cause any problems to the bike?

if it happens first time in morning cold starts (with very mild jerks) then it's normal.
It happens because cold oil acts like some sticky thing with clutch plates.
Try pumping your clutch some couple of times before starting.. Bike should start without jerks.
If it still jerks then get it checked.
