  • Subpar gearshift and low mileage

Hey Guys, need a help here. My Avenger is 15 days old. Done 1.1k Kms and first service was around 650 kms. The gear shift after the service seems to have got a little clunky and hard. At times it is difficult to slot gears. Specially the transmission from fourth to fifth is not very smooth sometimes I need to try more than once to go from 4th to 5th. Its really getting on my nerves. This development has been seen after the service. What can be the reasons? And remedies?

Secondly before the service the bike was giving me around 35Km to the litre. I expected that to go up. But since the last full tank, the Bike has run 270 Kms and it hit reserve. Which means a mileage of under 27 Kms to litre. That too when I m running it in. Never crossed 65 on the speedo yet. I dont expect 40ish mileage but sub 30 mileage is shocking specially since it was giving close to 35 before the service. Spirited riding would take it to sub 25 levels.. gosh!!

    Please suggest.
    Its not always about speed.

    Query Approved
Advice is a form of nostalgia.
Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.

I have ridden fairly an under Run-in Avenger of a friend and the Gear shift wasnt encouraging either.. It has improved lately after some 2K of running.

For Mileage, check if someone is stealing petrol out of your tank.. This had happened with my said friend. He got a lock fitted. some 300 bucks at Bajaj SC.

For Gear shifts, you may want to post this query under ownership thread for better reponses.

I hope the gearshift eases out after some mileage. Lock for fuel Do we have such a thing? I think I should be running off to the SC to enquire. Thanks for the heads up bro.

I had switched to Motul 5100T SS at 2.5k on odo. No warranty issues.

Yes, a lock for fuel... Just confirmed and it costed him just 150 ! They call it petrol lock. Only issue is you have to be ready to manage two keys.. and it becomes a bit cumbersome i tell you.
