Cool Pulsar 200 NS mods and Extras

    Hey guys,

This is my first thread in Xbhp possibly if approved

Even though I'm a big time fairing lover, i got pasted on the 200NS with the awesome specs. I have saw the bike, sat on it and waiting for test drive on monday and will book probably on the same day (waiting for my dad's pocket to be tared)

Just because, I need to get all the money from my father, I need to clarify a fre things before giving him a final brochure (He throws a reply "They say Platina gives good mileage" and then i throw a look "Shut-up")

I have listed a few questions and please share if you've additional details as well.

    1. Heard that the tires are bad (Yeah I know, I cannot get everything at this price), what tires are preferable? ( I ride 50 Kms up and 50 kms down per day with / w/o pillioner 70% highway + 30% Traffic, love cornering as well )

    Front as well as back

    2. What gears will look appealing to the macho bike? (For god sake, please tell me a matching helmet)

    3. I prefer the gear and brake levers to be in front as i prefer that riding posture, is it modifiable?

    4. The horn is really bad, and i need to get a new one and also a remote control, Is there space for another battery inside?

Hope this thread will be approved, Please move in-case

    Shylesh

    1. Tires are bad? Says who? Eurogip tyres are fine in dry conditions & have a decent grip on wet tarmac.
    2. Search in your nearby bike apparels market or online stores & choose.
    3. Buy a different bike, why bother doing your own 'engineering' on a good product.
    4. Any mods whatsoever will void your warranty. Double battery for what? A remote lock works fine even on a 3Ah battery.
Its the fusion of a two wheeled machine & a human being which creates a true biker.

    Hi Shylesh,

I know this is an old post and you going by your display pic, you have bought the 200 NS. Congrats! So have I!

However there is one question that I would love to answer, the tyre upgrade.

If you haven't upgraded it already, I highly recommmend Pirelli Sport Demon or Bridgestone Battlax. They are expensive, mind you!

For other tyres, you can try Dunlops, or MRF RevZ.

I rode just 200 kms with the stock tyres and decided, enough is enough!

Wishing you happy miles on your baby!

    Cheers!

Does anyone know if Duke's swing arm is a direct fit for Pulsar 200NS. Reason : Easy fitment of swing arm spools, etc. Another advantage will be shedding a few kilos as the Duke swing arm is alloy instead of Pulsar's steel swing arm.

Pulsar's swing arm is stronger than that of Duke, also you do not need swingarm spools in the P200NS, you can get the OEM center stand for 500 rupees.

200NS and 200 Duke does not have much difference in weight to be honest. The 2014 Duke weights 129.5 kg without fuel, the tank holds 11 liter (so kerb weight would be 129.5+11=140.5 kilogram) The kerb weight of the 2014 Pulsar 200NS is 145 kg (Includes the weight of full tank of fuel, which is 12 liter, 145-12=133 kilogram)

Without fuel, the weight of the 200 Duke is 129.5 kilogram and the weight of 200NS is 133 kilogram, as we can see not much of a difference. Fill only 5 liters of petrol in the 200NS and it would be as light as a 200 Duke with full tank, added advantage is being a carburetor fueled bike, 200NS can run with low amount of fuel and with a better FE than the DUke, one can cover some good amount of distance with 5 liters of petrol. One can remove the toolbox, saree guard, tire hugger etc. to shed about a kilo of weight too.

The overall kerb weight is still higher than that of duke. The density of petrol is lesser hence the approximate weight of petrol for 1 litre will be around 700 GMS. I wanted to go for the sliders and the entire crash protection kit as available for the Dukes, because with 2 wheels you can't really predict the unpredictable. Not that Bajaj could not have made the NS a better bike than Duke, as Pulsar's frame is really strong, it's just that it'd have been cannibalizing marketing strategy for their investment in KTM.
