  • Clutch problem..

I recently had the clutch plates changed in my P180. There were six plates in total when removed. As per the mechanic there are five clutch plates. He replaced five with new ones and put back one old one.

He also told me a set comes of five from the company as well. Is that correct to what he said?

Also since the clutch plates have been replaced after i start the engine shift in first gear there is a sound like a hammer strike....after that its smooth shifting.

After i have driven the bike and let it rest for sometime and i manover the bike back and forth in netural its like the bike is stuck in gear.

    Please help

The official packing from BAL comes with 5 clutch plates probably because P150, i.e. the highest selling Pulsar requires only 5 plates. But we need 6 clutch plates on P180 and P220 so that bit is absolutely true.

Don't know the resolution for the rest of the issue. Could you be more specific?
Advice is a form of nostalgia.
Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.

The thudding sound for the first gear is common, though it may not be that loud and maybe you are feeling it so.
And regarding the number of plates, i guess Ananth has cleared it for you.
