  • P150 Problem

    i have a P150 2006 model.. 29k kms covered..
from past 1 month i'm doing too much of long rides.. like 150km in 2 hours from bangalore to mysore..
i usually maintain 80-90kmph speed all the way..
but sometimes when i try to cruise at 70kmph at 5.5k RPM(only at this RPM not below or above it).. bike vibrates a lot.. vibrations can be felt on the handle..
bike behaves as if front part is moving up and down..
cant cruise for long at this speed.. no vibrations past 70..
    what could be the problem.??

Around 5k RPM (in all 5 gears), even my P150 engine gets very harsh and a little increase in vibrations too. But no feeling of the front end moving up & down. Above 5.5k, its smooth. Haven't figured out a solution.

      Possibilities:
      1. Carb cleaning?

Which jet other than the pilot and main jet are present in the carb? Is possible that the middle jet (?) is not functioning properly?

Hello Manohar bro, I think you should check the front tyre & it's lining. When a puncture repair mechanic installs it incorrectly, it results in bike moving up & down...

It happened to me, on my P180 & I was baffled then ... Just a clue...

my front tire has not got any puncture till date ... it has not been removed ever since i bought it..
vibration is at 5.5k only.. not at 5k.. not even at 6k.
also, i feel bike is running out of breathe at 5.5k rpm.. there is slight choking at that RPM..

my experience: after running the bike full throttle(speed 110+) for 20-30minutes, if i try to go for lower rpms, I also get that choking thing. and it becomes normal after some time. Not sure why you get that at 5.5K only ..

But as per my understanding, p150 has a microprocessor, which decide about petrol supply as per your need. when you start the bike, it's allowing normal amount of petrol to flow in. Max speed would be around 90 at full throttle. when you keep full throttle for some time, it understand your need of more speed and allows more petrol to flow in and Might be doing other calibrations as well..

now if you want to go back to slower speed immediately, it will have to recalibrate it. and thats why that choking for air sound.

and due to this recalibration and all pulsar gives best average in 150range with power as well when you need it.. cheers!!!

              some specialist might comment further

While heading back to mysore yesterday, i found 1 more thing for that vibrations . the left front fork vibrates but right fork does not vibrate. it is clearly visible to eye while driving . But again this happens only during 5.5k RPM.

Also, when i cleared observed near the shocks, there was some oil traces at the top.

I had changed fork oil during last service

Is it because of that left fork??
