Help: Lowering R1 seat height.

hi guys,
i have decided to go for an R1, this is my first superbike, i have been riding since 8-yrs but other bike like eliminator & rx100, i have noticed that the R1 Seat height is pretty high for my height (only 5'6 ) both my legs dont touch flat down on the ground, is there a way to lower the bike abit by an inch?? any R1 gurus can help me? one more thing how to findout the difference between the 07 & 08 R1?? i heard the model no is printed on the bike but where exactly is it printed?? thanks ...

Putting both your feet flat down from a superbike like the R1 is quite a task in itself. You need to be 6 feet tall or thereabouts, I believe for both of your feet to be flat down on the tarmac.

As for lowering the seat height, can softening the rear monoshock help? If at all that is possible, it would hamper the handling, I believe.

I dont think seat can be adjusted on a R1 but u can adjust Rear-sets and brake and gear pedals .

If ur comfortable riding completely then dont let height be a problem.Wear good shoes like adidas Megabounce that have a nice heel that will add something to height .Even salman khan is 5'8 and keeps riding busas and litre bike with Katrina behind .

will give it a try as our roads are very bad too for a stiff setup..

No it wont, softening it wont alter the ride height.

Looking at the massive height difference, it should be the other way round!

@insane: I don't think it is going to be a major issue. Once the machine starts rolling, then you would surely feel 'at home'. It is not really important whether both your feet are firmly on the ground while standing still, or not.

thanks for the help guys, the R1 rear shock has a preload setting, will try changing the setting abit to the soft side, as i m not very heavy also (68kg),
will keep ur'll updated, thanks for the help guys, btw i would love to have katrina behind the bike, wat a MOD freaking shit worth every paisa

I dont think changing the shock setting will work..making them softer will only help very minute bit but nothing that will help you even 10 % (this is what i feel...might be wrong And since you are not that heavy there are more questions about your weight pushing the bike down
