Post [UT]: Biking backpacks and Luggage Accessories.

Hi friends,
based on the numerous praises for cramster accesories i looked up their site.
As of now I just need a good backpack (15'4"' ) for trips.
The cramster one looks pretty interesting
Cramster - Travel Gear For The Restless : Motorcycle Luggage, Saddlebags, Magnetic Tankbags, Riding Gear - Jacket, Gloves, Backpacks...

What do you guys suggest: should i go for it ( i need a backpack for regular use as well)..or is there any better option ( i dont want to spend much..i have targus but i need another one as well)
can buy at b'lore/chennai/ahmedabad

O.T. can we have a universal thread just like helmets where all luggage acesories can be discussed. It would be really helpful.
am sorry if one already exists. i only found few which weren't compreghensive enough ( just discussing tankbags or exclusively for avengers)
i feel that all these categories ( backpacks, panniers, tank bags, saddles) are mutually exclusive ( people need to choose among them for their needs) & discusssing them at one place would be really useful

TIA
Vikram

Amazingly durable, waterproof (to some extent), snug fit, and quite spacious .. Look no further, buy if you can! Forget the rest!

^^^ Ravi to rescue here... he's using the Cramster backpack for over an year now and he says it is more comfortable for him than other backpacks and than to tie that on the back seat it is big and rests on the seat. Also, it can hold the helmet. If you want to feel some fresh air when at a scenic place you can tuck in your helmet in that compartment.

Default Luggage Solutions for Motorcyles - Thinking Inside the Box

We, the bikers, in India need better luggage provisions on our bikes. We usually travel with our belongings (simple office essentials, helmet storage while parking, some everyday stuff for travel) - someplace where we can safely dump without the worry of being stoled (or worse - vandalised).

We have, some tank bags, saddle bags - both dont offer security/hard solutions - cant leave em unattended.

Until recently, i had a hard box installed behind the pillion seat - on a splendor carrier retrofitted onto a karizma - confusing everyone Unfortunately, a Maruti Zen rear-ended me and therefore breaking the box.

I always got crazy questions/looks from people - is this pizza box? is it water cooler? is this AirCond for the bike ? why do u spoil the look of the sports bike? (zma is a spbike?) is this a helmet lock?

The box served its purpose - very well. I used it like a car trunk - threw rain gear and umbrella during monsoon, shopping stuff, hotel takeaways, veggies shopping, waste cloth for emergency wiping, additional pair of shoes, helmet and gear when parked.... list is endless.

Wondering if you are aware of any better alternatives ?? locations to purchase / fit the same. Let us share innovative ways to carry luggage.

I use Studd Panniers on my RE - great hard luggage retrofits. Apart from safely storing my belongings, it has saved my leg from being injured once. The ideal combi would be a tail hard top (like yours) , with hard panniers on each side.

Completely agree with Pitbull, there is no decent luggage system available in India. The only ones doing the round are cramsters and I personally think that the guys at cramster designed one a few years back and have forgotten to make any improvements

There is space for a new entrant and if someone can come up with some decent quality and innovative designs - it will be a big hit.

I am looking to buy something when I am in Singapore/Bangkok later this year. would have loved to buy something locally if they were available here locally
