  • engine problem

    yesterday when pune xbhpians were have a G2G, i went to the castrol bike zone near sancheti hospital.

    Reason: My bike had undergone a major repair a few months back..block piston clutch plates valves, crank shaft work etc etc change....the reason was that it was consuming oil and there was drop in pick-up and lot of noise from engine..... now it has again started to consume oil. last time the service center guys drained oil during regular servicing only 200 ml was left in the engine. now i m keeping a close watch on oil level. yesterday i had time so instead of my regular authorized service center i went to the CBZ, with the intention of getting a compression test done.... but they said they dont have the adapter required to check the compression of digital pulsar. they also told me that none of the CBZ in city is having that adapter. guys kindly help how to get the engine compression cheched. is this facility available at probiking service centers or u know some place where i can check this. the manager at CBZ told me this could be due to valve setting....guys kindly help...

    my bike had done approx. 40,000 kms and is 2.5 years old. (Pulsar 150 DTS-i)

      mine pulsar 150 classic too had same problem at last service only 150ml of oil was drained out. but, instead of redoing engine i am opting for maintaining oil level by checking at regular intervals mine pulsar had done 33000kms

        That's a major repair, and one cannot get back the original/better feel after such repair. You need to be patient and follow 'run-in' again, the bike will slowly get back to a 'feel' that will be probably acceptable to you, else...you need to go for all new bike.

          well...buddy..this is not a permanent solution....i have to top up the oil every 1000 kms...too bad...i cant go on long drives....i m very fond of long drives.....

          i have already completed the run-in period....now everything is ok....pick-up is also ok... i wanna check the engine compression...can somebody help in pune...???

            yes thats not permanent solution but as you have just redoed the engine works i would prefer that you again follow the mechanic or service centre where you got the job done and ask them what work had undergone because you have invested a lot on bike so you should ask them to check the bike again and remember they should do it free of cost this time no matter what corrections bike needs

                today i checked with probiking service center....they say they can check engine compression .....i will go on 14th to that service center.

                  coz so many ppl have complained about this and i hv experienced this on my bike too ....dont know th ereal reason...or wht exactly hpnd ... but i used Motul fully synthetic oil ( Rs. 750/=) once and next time i went for servicing there was not a drop of oil in my engine. since then my bike started consuming oil... then i went in for block piston change along with clutch plates, valves...etc..then i went in through the running in process for 2000kms and it was all fine till running -in .....but now when i rip my bike it is again consuming oil.....i m totally confused wht the problem is.. now i m using power 1,.....and this drinking phenomenon happens only when the bike crosses 90 kmph mark. now my line of action is like this...on 14th of this month i will go to probiking service center...get my engine compression checked...then i will go to my usual service center and do a normal servicing, measure the amount of oil left...and this time i will put castrol 4t xtra, coz its written on castrol website that this oil reduces the bikes tendency to consume oil...and the castrol bike zone guy here in pune also recommended it....i have written a letter to bajaj also...lets see wht hpns....btw....yesterday i hv beaten the shit out of an RTR and FZS...see the bikes performance is ok...dont know where all the oil goes....and my bike doesn't emit smoke also...???

                        Hey pple, just go thru the VIDEO, n please tell, WHY my bike's tachometer stops at 2k after paddling the neutral, den gradually comin to it's actual 1.2k mark.

                          hey guys got my bike serviced on 13th....this time the oil level was a bit OK 800 ML was left in engine after 2000 KMS...so went in for just normal servicing. Put in Castrol Activ Xtra coz it was mentioned in castrol website that this oil helps reduce the engine oil consumption... and the guy at CBZ also recommended it...though the oil doesn't feel much smooth....lets see how much oil will be left in next servicing. the oil is red in color.

                          I still wonder wht is happenning in my bike....last time only 200 ML oil was left and this time its 800 ML....thoughthe letter to bajaj helped a lot..the service center manager was all eager to sort my problem....i felt like a VIP there....but everybody was of the opinioin that since my engine was recently overhauled with new block piston, valves, timing chain, clutch plates etc...engine may take some time to set in properly and that may be cause for initial oil consumption...i m still observing the oil level closely...till next servicing.

                            where did you get the compression test done for p200 in Pune??
                            I am extensively searching for good mechanic who understands problems with the bike rather than just oiling and washing as a overall solution to all problems.
                            Do you know any such good mechanics in Pune??
