  • R15 engine/filter/ECU problem ??

I bought my R15 some 2 months back and ve only driven 2500 Kms as of now.
Since the last 5 days i am facing the following problem:

    1) the engine vibrations which were earlier noticed only over 4000 rpm can now be easily felt at as low as 3200 rpm.
    2) the engine is making a lot more noise now over 5000 rpm
    3) when i leave the accelerator even at slow speeds, the bike slows down with a jerk.

Overall it seems as if the bike is really really stressed at 4000 rpm, no matter the speed.

Please suggest any remedies, and if someone faced a similar problem then plz to share how you went about it?

    Thanks in advance!!

see bro your bike is not cheap so i will recommend you that your bike is in warranty period if you are saying ECU then straight away go to authorized workshop in your locality because ECU is not cheap.... and they will fix it....

around 6-9k . did u get the tappets tightened during the 3,000 km service?? i was facing severe vibration and harshness in the engine, and it went after the tightening. this has to be done every 3-4k according to a yamaha engineer also.

Also if the ECU would have some issue, a fault light would/should light up on the meter.

My bike's 3000 km service is still due after a 250 kms.

~NO fault light is lit on the speedo pannel....

            ~~thanks for all these views

AFAIK its the issue with the tappets. Get them tightened.

+1 to that! The culprits will mostly be the tappets, fairing bolts&also engine mount bolts.

Take the bike to the Yamaha service center and get it checked. They would be able to give you the best advice and solution, 'hopefully'. Do let us all know what they diagnosed.

well i did take it to the yamaha pro guys (before posting here, and before i knew that the tappets could be causing the problem), but they said its all fine !! ( i know it is NOT, the pocket rocket just won't fly ) .... will take it to the service station again ...

~till then please give as many suggestions as you can
~~so that i know what to get checked

Engine vibrations @ 4000 RPM... duh! Never happened with me...

                      Some questions
                      1) Did you change the engine oil and the oil filter in the first service?
If Yes... Read on, if No! GO!!!!
                      2) Check if your chain slackness is set correctly... is it too tight, too loose?
Idle setup will have about a inch play
                      3) Lot more noise? Go Clean and Lube your chain... Lube your Front Sprocket as well...
                      4) Tighten all your NUTS

At 2500 KM I would worry about tappet clearance, unless you tried fiddling with it!

Hey man, to answer all your questions separately :
                        1) the engine oil & oil filter were changed in the 1st service
                        2) Just got the chain cleaned/lubricated & tightened from yamaha guys ( I get that done every 500 km as is required )
                        3) Its certainly not the loose fairing noise, can feel the engine getting stressed.

                        Thanks for the info

~its over 3200 rpm that i feel there is something wrong with my bike..
~~please suggest other things that might need a check up

                          Issue Solved

took my bike to the service guys...
they said the engine needed some adjustments, and in the end it were the Tappets that had messed up my bike ....

~~thanks to all you guys for your views
                          ~~~ esp those who had pointed out the loose tappets part of it
