  • Cold start for a 125 / 150 CC

Mods - Please move to an appropriate thread ( I cud not find one except ownership of TVS FLAME)

Qn: I own a TVS FLAME and looks like cold start is general problem with 125 / 150 CC bikes ? or Is it ?

I ALSO own a BULLET - A cold start in bullet is defined as - Open choke - push twice with decompression - close choke - Push - Wham thumper is ON without a hiss !!!

How do you really cold start a 125 CC bike ? I really dont know as this is the first ever time I am owning own !!!

Thanks for the tips in advance

    Best ,
    VJ

The Wheel was a great invention; Two Wheels with a Motor in between was even better!

Is your Flame facing cold start issues? I never faced any cold start issues on my 8 year old Suzuki Fiero, even in Delhi winter. The choke lever broke while transporting the bike to Delhi from Visakhapatnam, so thats not an option for me. All I used to do, was pull in clutch, blank kick 2-3 times(this has become a habit and i continue to do this), then one nice smooth full kick and maybe a hint of acceleration, and my baby was up. Do warm up the engine well, before starting off.

Hey thanks Mash .. Yeah .. As i said .. I used to drive around a Bull .. so I am getting used to this smaller machine ...

I am not too sure .. If it is a cold start issue or a new engine trying to get aligned as the vehicle is brand new ...

but I ve not tried the clutch option (looks like the equivalent of decompressor of bull) ... Let me give it a shot and will update tomm

        Thanks

Yes, it must be a new engine thing. Yes, the clutch thing is similar to the Bull decompresor. Learnt it from Dad. He has a 20 year old Std 350.

Oh is it? Dad and Bull are in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. And I am in Bangalore since last October. Moreover, Dad does not let anyone even tip the Bull.
