Rossiter is leaving tomorrow, I believe, Augusta. As for your PM, yes, I did get it and read it as well.

Yes, surely. As for my treat, you click some photographs with your new D-SLR, and show them to me. That would be my treat!

I am not sure whether an official Canon dealer would sell ONLY the body to it's customer. As for the 7-8k, this is more than enough to buy you the Canon EF-S 18-55 f3.5 - f5.6 IS lens.

So what do I do? I mean if I don't buy the lens, the body should be around 25-26k and I had my budget of about 33-34k, which boils down to a sum of about 7-8k for a lens. Any ideas?

Twenty eight thousand from Canon official dealer for the 1000D is good, I believe. It is a real good price. But, I guess you would be getting the Non-IS 18-55mm "kit" lens, which, if you ask me, is pure CRAP!
