Hi, I have not bought a hid kit as yet. I was thinking of purchasing one online. Have not zeroed on a kit yet. From what I read online, relay is important as it protects the stock wiring from blowing off. Raj.

What kind of HID kit do you have? Does it take power directly from the battery? Or from the bike's wiring itself? In case it comes with a relay and takes power directly from the battery there are two options: (1) Make the whole bike DC or (2) Install a rectifier just before the HID Relay. However in most of the bikes, there is a battery drain if you simply provide DC current to relay as the battery will not be charging at the rate of HIDs draining power. But some bikes do'nt have a problem, so it's better to experiment first. In case the battery does drain out (also depents on your night time riding) you can go ahead with the 2nd mod of charging the battery separately.

I would be happy to help you. To start basically a bridge rectifier is combination of 4 diodes to form a bridge. This bridge rectifies or simply convert AC to DC. Take a look at Wiki Diode bridge - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia .

I was helped by a guy called Arjun Raina. He is on X-bhp too but i dont know what his ID is here... There is one wire you need to interchange to convert the entire system from AC to DC. Secondly you need a big battery (preferably 9 Ampheres or higher) so ensure your battery box can take that. Also ensure the battery is getting charged properly. Thirdly, you should know that every HID kit contains a compass-box like device which is called the booster. This needs to be mounted close to the headlight. On my bike it is strapped to the bottom of the headlight.

I would say that the HID is a great mod. The white light is bright and makes night riding fairly easy. The chinese kits that start at 4500 bucks are fairly reliable. I've had one for almost a year now and i am quite happy with it.

You can call me at +91-9823106662 or write to me at vivekjayasheel@yahoo.com for more info. I don't check this site too often. Take care and good luck with the conversion.

Thanks man. No I havent checked with the Yamaha showrooms. I think their mechanic would not work on my suzuki. They might work elsewhere though. I would surely visit their showroom soon. Shillong has always been known as a place for great aftermarket modifications. I really appreciate your help. Raj.

Hello Raj, Gud Morning. First of all glad to see another xBhpian from Assam.

As for the convertion of all Bike's electrical wiring to DC, I shall find out from my friends here or from few well-known workshops. I shall let u know in a day or two. By the way have you consulted Yamaha Servicing Centres? Since they are working on both AC and DC wirings, the mechanics might have a good idea of the connections. In the meantime you can enquire from the Yamaha service centres nearby you and I shall do the same here in Shillong.

Hello there, you can post your query on the Ownership Experience thread of the Suzuki GSR 150, or perhaps you can send a message across to 'Devilboy'. He resides in Shillong, and he would be able to help you in a better way than me.

The steps in brief are -
    1. Get an old stator coil, remove the windings from all the coils except the ignition coil and rewind using thicker wires.
    2. Connect this coil to a new RR unit from APE auto. And connect the o/p with the bike, in place of the old RR unit o/p.

These two steps you will find described on various threads by me, sajjt, shreeni and others. Just look around and ask for help for any clarifications.

Nope, I did it all myself. No mech in Ghy will be able to do it for you. They may be able to help you if you can guide them through all the required steps precisely.
