From the looks of it, I would buy the Rjay's. Haven't tried either, so can't comment on the fit.

Hey Rahul, I'm going ahead with your suggestion about riding pants. Which between these two would you recommend?

    PHOENIX 2.0 PANT

    or

    RJays

Well, if you buy a pair of extremely high end riding pants, that alone will motivate you to keep your waist at 32. Even 30. Trust me. It works.

Lol. What a coincidence! My name is Rahul too :P .. Are you on Facebook? What's your full name? Regarding the gloves, yes I realised trial is important so buying them online is not a good call. Most recommend DSG Primal Gloves. Will have to try them out somewhere. You're right about the pants; its just that I was worried about my ever flexible (and usually in the upward direction) waist line which saw 32 once in its life time and is now hovering between 33-34 . So I was just cautious investing in pants that I might outgrow :P

    You can call me Rahul!

Gloves: Just try something is comfortable instead of carbon fibre-titanium-kevlar-admantium thingies which I see people wearing everyday. You and me have different hand sizes, so I cannot recommend what will fit you well. But as a thumb rule, a touring glove should be soft, not have too many layers and embellishments.

Knee guards: Instead of buying separate knee guards which you will find adjusting every riding hour, try going for a riding pant with a built in hard knee and shin guard. That way you can focus on your riding and not think about about stopping every now and then to adjust the bionic-Alphinestars knee guard.

Hey bluevolt! Which knee guards and gloves would you recommend for touring? Also, what's your name man - don't want to continue referring to you as bluevolt

I would wait out for the new Hero Moto Impulse to come out and see how it is. Frankly, I would put my money on that if the finish is the same as the Honda NXR150 dirt bike which they sell in Brazil. I could have that as my 2nd bike. Rumor has it that the engine is imported from Honda along with a few more bits and pieces as well.

Ok. I should correct myself, I am not upgrading, but buying a second motorcycle whose sole purpose will be for touring. I felt 250cc would be enough for that. But what do you think and which one would you recommend then for bad roads/dirt? 800/900cc might be a bit out of my budget

The Ninja 250R is the perfect motorcycle for India. Great top speed (if you are able to take it there on our roads) with perfect looks and ergonomics to boot.
I am selling my bike because I tour a lot and the Ninja falters on bad roads/dirt and I was planning to wait for triumph to launch and buy their Tiger 800 XC or the Triumph Scrambler 900.
