    Hi there.
Both the bikes you are considering are practical enough.
Its just that R15's pros are 220s cons and the vice versa.

With the R15 i've found only 3 cons. First the headlight. It sucks big time during the night time.
Secondly the bike is best when ridden alone. When with the pillion its true nature is lost.
Thirdly, this one is subjective and its related to the size. I'm 188cm tall and for me it looked li'l small in size.
    Pros:
    1. Best handling. 220, RTR, ZMR none of them come even closest to it.
    2. Engine reliability. ITs Yamaha need not say anything more.
    3. Then all the current technology its got.

    P220
    Cons:
    1. All the technology of R15.
    2. Carb. Not saying that carb is not good but still fi is better!
    3. Handling.
    Pros:
    1. Headlights. The best thing for travelling in night.
    2. Torque. Pulls like anything. I've ridden it in hills. With a pillion and baggage i was able to pull it up in top gear.

And for people saying R15 not worth the 1L tag then i'd simply say its worth every single penny you spend on that!
I've given you the ups and downs of both. Now you need to take a call. Do let me know in case you need any more clarification.
Buddy the dilemma you are facing i've faced that for almost a year!
