Wow! Thanks So much for the reply! i was just confused between a PS3 and a XBox now..

PS3, i get it for 250$ from US and a Xbox for around 10k INR.

If things come right, might get hold of either one of them next month.

    Take care, ride (play) safe

also ps2 was and is the largest selling console in the world so you shouldn't worry about availability of ps2 games. not to mention you can run ps 1 games as well in your ps2, though same applies to ps3 as well.

hey ananth, how you doing? i am very new to gaming consoles. till now PC was my entertainment hub but i got a ps2 just to have a hang of it. I am not a hardcore gamer but yes, wanted a separate console for games as PC games (specially new ones) have some really high configuration that doesn't run even in my newest laptop.

there is a HUGE difference in the pricing and performance of ps2 and ps3. haven't played on ps3 personally yet but heard its the best ps till now. however, i have modified my ps2 so that it can play copied game DVDs as well, resulting in voiding its 1 year warranty, one thing you wouldn't want to do with your new 23,000 bucks ps3.
