FZ has 40 teeth rear sprocket. It fits your bike, but your R15 has 42 rear.

In other words, if you get lesser teeth at rear sprocket you will overgear (more top speed, less acceleration).
But since you said you need acceleration, go for more than 42 teeth at rear.

Did you try Apache 160 RTR's front sprocket (13 teeth) on your bike?

And I suggest you read my text again... Its not that complicated. Or ask me where you got confused...

Firstly thanks ! Now coming to the technical side, I'm not that much into it, so most of the things just bounced off :P but then I did inquire bout the Daytona Sprocket set, they said you have to buy the whole kit, which is totally illogical, so thought if any other way is possible, what bout FZs rear sprocket set ? How would my bike perform if I get it ?

    (previous message continued....)

Daytona products are very costly though.

And change one sprocket only, either a 13T front or 44T rear. If you change both, your bike will be heavily undergeared... and then reliability problems might occur.

Keep me posted. Also, use this site to calculate your speeds/rpm for each gearing:

Gearing Commander: Motorcycle Speed, RPM, Chain & Sprockets Calculator (enter gearing values from R15's pamphlet)

Chain pitch: .428- (120 links, not sure though)
    Primary & secondary gearing: 3.042/3.000
    1st gear: 2.833/1
    2nd gear: 1.875/1
    and so on...
    6th gear: 0.84/1

Hi. Your street package from Joel should help you with acceleration, with more torque across the rpm range + a top end of 147~ kmph (speedo), if you redline in top. Still, Read on..

Your stock setup is 14/42 teeth. For more acceleration, you'll either need a 13T front sprocket, or 44 teeth rear sprocket.

I suggest you try these step by step:

    1. Try getting an Apache RTR 160 front sprocket which is 13T. Try getting its bolts and clamps too. It should fit most probably.

    2. If it doesn't, you can go for 44 teeth rear from Daytona Racing Kit available at Yamaha. Daytona also has a 13T front sprocket:

    Dagrex | Daytona Corp

Daytona products are very costly though.

I've a R15 and I'm preparing for this years drag, I've ordered the whole street package from Joel and I'm stuck with sprocketing, so thought if you could help, I'm looking for low RPM acceleration, so what should I be looking for ? And which sprocket would help me ?
