No new job yet. Hoping to get one in Hyd. I'll know in a month. Or two. The Telangana issue seems to be affecting a lot of things.

Looks like i'll be landing in Hyd mostly. My bro happens to own a house there and its been unoccupied for a long time. Very tempting. The traffic there gives me the jitters, but riding there is more exciting than in Chennai. My major worry is the difficulty in finding good mechanics there (according to my bro, whose RE came back to Chennai a mutated mess, because he couldn't find any good mechanic there. I'm still struggling to straighten it out.)

No, sadly. not yet. Quit my job, and I have no idea where my next job will land me. So waiting... Found a Yammy showroom right at my street corner. And it has a HUGE collection of R15s. They even offered me a TD, and one that ain't limited to a few metres. Lets see.

    Thanks for info.
4 days sounds too optimistic for me too.
Anyway, i have decided to wait till the Auto Expo, to see what the 'new' R15 brings. Waiting wont kill me, even if it'll hurt quite a lot.

I did hear something about the engine also being indigenously manufactured, but I thought it was already into practice! (I think my engine is made in India). The engine initially was made in Indonesia if I'm not wrong (they produce the Vixion there, the bike that R15 is based on). I don't know about now.
Forget about what ideas that guy gives you, they are meant to bullshit the customer. None of us have faced any problems with our bikes if you don't count tightening of loose nuts (happens if you're too rev happy for a few thousand kms). Delivery in 4 days is brilliant (if he is saying the truth), I got my R15 3 weeks after booking it.
Usually on the left side of the bike, there is a sticker on the chassis under the 'deltabox' panel, this gives the year of manufacture etc. All the new colours are made in 2009. Whereas for blue, they might to sell you 2008 manufactured bikes (since blue wasn't changed in the new colours).

I already posted this in my thread, but sent it to you too, just in case you miss that.

I went to a showroom for a TD.

The showroom guy said the current engine of the R15 (or the whole bike perhaps) is imported. Seems from next month, new R15s are gonna arrive that'll be manufactured in India. I felt he was blurting some half baked info he heard from his manager, or he was trying to get me to buy as soon as possible. The guy also promised delivery in 4 days after booking. Seems he has 4 blacks, a few yellows and reds. No blues

So, i had the following doubts:
    1) Is it true that the engine or the whole bike is imported and that Yamaha has opened a plant in India?

    2) Can this guy be trusted? Its okay to be over-eager, because that selling bikes IS his job, but delivery in 4 days??? It is as if he is trying to sell it off as soon as possible.

    Thanks in advance.

all of us are confident of the fact that whatever performance upgrades / visual add-ons or mods there will be in the new iteration of the R15, all of them (or at least the perf ones) will be backward compatible. Dont worry about it. With an R15, you will NEVER be on the losing side.
