Nope. I think the setting is fine.. no issues at high speeds... i have cruised at 90+ steady for long periods... Other than the vibrations... there is no issue.

the popping is fine when u close the throttle, it indicates slightly rich mixture, which is okay. The engine should not run too hot, as that would indicate an issue with the mixture being too lean.

Put it all together, and then you would need to tune your bike. Best way is to screw the air fuel screw all the way in, and then un screw it about 2 - 2 1/2 turns. Then ride the bike, and see how she feels, after a few kms, you will find the ideal setting. else you can always take it to a mech.

Also, if you are too worried, open the carb with a good mechanic around, so he can put it back together if you miss anything.

Important things - use the right sized tools, screw drivers, else you will damage the heads of the screw of the Carburettor.

PS - read from my bottom most post upwards, since there is a 1000 character limit, so i split it in three parts.

    - Open the top of the carb ( where you see the slide moving into ). Be careful not to rupture the rubber of the diaphragm, else the carb is useless.

Collect all these bits in a plate, and wash them nicely with petrol, and also the carb clean spray. That will help remove any deposits, muck, sludge etc.

Spray the carburettor properly and liberally with the spray and clean as thoroughly as possible.

Do not use any cloth that would have fibres coming out of it, as they can get stuck and block the carb. Use soft cloth, that cleans and dries properly.

Cover every small bit once cleaned to prevent dust from settling down on it. Preferably do it in a well ventilated but clean area so that no or minimum dust comes in.

Hi ananth, the issue with the CV carb of the T-bird is that very few mechanics dare to open it thoroughly and clean it properly.

If you are a DIY kinda person. Then i suggest purchasing some good carb clean sprays from 3M, or STP even. And keep the carb cleaning interval at about every 10,000 kms or so.

Open the carb fully by first disconnecting from the manifold and air box hose.

    - Remove the accelerator cable.
    - open the drain cup ( two screws on either side )
    - Remove diffuser ( need a number 6 or 8 spanner for that )
    - open pilot jet ( need a small flat screw driver for that )
    - open float pin ( you will need to open a philips screw ) holding the floats and the pin in place )
    - Open the air fuel screw ( its a small brass colored screw on the side where the idle screw is.) Be careful, as it has a spring, and a washer behind it and they are extremely small ).
