Just thought about writing this 'cos I saw lots of posts about people paining their wrists/arms/shoulders while riding and refrainig from the R15 due to these reasons. I think that the seating position can be overwhelming for someone shifting from a commuter to the R15, like I did. But these are not major worries and can be corrected through some simple adjustments. I claim to be no expert, but this is what I felt works. This is just based on my experience and some googling(which I've tested) .

1) DONT rest your body weight on your handlebars. This makes the front heavy (preventing easy flicking), and is the main cause for people to get those pains. Try and pivot majority of your weight on your buttocks and lower back. You can lean forward or be upright, but always refrain from resting on the handlebars. This position also helps keeping your upper body agile and free, and permits you to shift between tucking in and coming upright with speed and flexibility.
2) Hug the tank with your knees. Apart from taking some weight off your upper body, this will also assist you in becoming 'one' with the bike. Lowers drag, centralizes and lowers(if tucked in) the CG. The fenders provide excellent wind drag protection, so we should use it, esp on high speeds. We thankfully dont face the wrath of the hot (quite literally) superbikes.
3) Rest the padded part of the foot on the footrest. Though you'll have to use the toes when you're tucking in for a drag or something, this is a relatively relaxed position.

I have been following these rules for sometime and have experienced no pains whatsoever. Infact, I like the stance and am totally in love with it. Wouldnt go back to the drab upright for anything.

I own a blue R15 which is around 35 days old n has run around 650kms..

I m goin for my first free service on Wednesday.. few things i've already marked out like lowering the gear shift lever and all...

The help which i want from u guys is... i today visited the metro tyres shop in scooter gulli, lamington road, Mumbai(this shop was suggested to me by some mumbai xbhpians). The person there was quite helpful...

I m plannin to go for fatter tyres for my R15. I m plannin to get it done after my first service...

I initially was plannin to go for 100 section tyre for front and 120 section for rear...but the person there showed and suggested me to go for 130 section low profile tyres instead of 120 section high profile ones.. for the front tyre he said there's not much of an issue...

I dont hav much of a knowledge bout the tyres... i asked him has he already fitted that tyre to any R15? and he answered he has done it with many R15s..

The best part he said was that no modification is needed to b done for 130 low profile tyre.. i asked him bout the change in performance and efficiency..and he replied that the fuel average'll b dropped by appro 2kms and no change in performance... only change will b u'll feel more confident while cornering...

So guys what my questions are..

1) Is IRC a good brand to go for? coz i personally have no idea bout this brand...

2) Talkin bout the fuel efficiency, i hav no prob even if the millege drops by 2kms..but the performance shud b unaffacted. coz for me performance is more imp than looks..

3) price he told me for the pair is 6000/- and refund of 1500/- for my current R15 tyres which comes out to b 4500/-

is the price ok?

One more thing i wud like to add is there was a guy with his brand new FZ16 and that fellow was getting fitted a 120 section IRC tyre front and a humongous 160 section for rear.. it was jaw droppping...

anyways... guyz plz help me soon as i want to get the job done as soon as possible...

If as per u people IRC is not the brand to go for then which one shud i go for?

Thanx in advance...
i was wondering when someone was gonna do that... some people just don't learn do they?

IRC is a good brand... but i suggest against changing the tyres if performance matters to you more than looks... many here might already suggested this to you... 99% of the R15 owners here doesn't entertain changing of the R15s tyres... so you have come to the wrong place to ask advice on changing tyres on the R15... if you are still planning to go ahead with your plan, there are many here who would be willing to give you good money for your stock tyres...

I changed my tyres on my cbz-x BECAUSE the stock tyres werent good enough

but come on, with the R15 the case is totally different... you cant get better tyres than the ones the company fits at that price (or even thrice of that) !

first of all, never change the front tyre with a wider one, seriously affects handling and steering the bike will get much heavier.

this comes from a future R15 rider+owner :P :P

P.s if you are still willing to change tyres, you will get pm's from loads of people here asking to sell your stock tyres to them

I am not interested in changing my R15's tires but still asking this question.
Will there be any change in performance if we use Michelin Power 120/70/17 Front Tires as the Rear tire on R15?

Guys please do not change R15 tyres

I have seen couple of R15 with Big tyres like 120/130

Looks good but .........performance goes down

I saw a r15 owner came back to Yamaha service Station as his chain alignment settings had gone bad because of big tyre

are you sure they are a bigger size they look suspiciously like stock tyres to me...
moreover he FZ with 160 that is crazy im sure if bsa brings out a cycle there will be idiots who will upsize the tyres...180 for a 14 hp bike...people keep getting dumber day by day..
btw i met this dude in the yamaha showroom in hyd who told me that his brother has 170 profile tyres on the r15 and the performance is out of this world...when I told him that it is ot possible he tells that the CBR has larger tyres and thus it is better...
to this dayi fail to understand the link between his comparision!!
