Default Steelbird introduces Carbon fibre helmets!

I just came across this piece of news on zigwheels - this is probably the first by an Indian helmet company.

"Steelbird introduces affordable carbon fibre and flip-off helmets

Good to look at, however, Carbon Fibre Helmets which are direct imports are quite expensive. In an outlook to the changing culture over two wheeler safety, countrys leading brand in helmets, Steelbird, has introduced affordable carbon fibre helmets and a revolutionary flip off helmet.

Affordability of good quality helmets has been a far fetched dream for the true enthusiast. Nothing against the authorities, however, the import duty on high quality helmets is something that cannot be done away with thereby getting the prices up. India’s leading brand, Steelbird has introduced affordable Carbon Fibre Helmets starting at Rs. 10000/- onwards.

Carbon Fibre is technically a material weaved out of threads of carbon and then superheated. This makes the helmets lighter, stronger and more durable. Apart from this, Steelbird has also introduced a revolutionary flip-off helmet design. If required, the rider can remove the chin guard and use the helmet.

The flip-off model SB2020 priced at Rs. 2999/- across all outlets in India and will come in ten color combinations. Both the helmets have replaceable interior parts, proper air ducts for ventilation and available in all sizes from extra small (XXS) to extra large (XXL). The carbon fibre model would be available in two versions – a full face helmet and a motocross design.

Made out of polycarbonate unbreakable anti-scratch coating on the top of the visor to effectively absorb impacts, the flip-off helmet helps in preventing head injuries. With more and more players entering with new and improved safety equipments for riders at an affordable price, the safety aspects for riders are sure to change. These helmets will be available across all outlets."

Excellent article BV, especially at a right time when I'm contemplating to buy one. But I'm still contemplating if a $180 BELL helmet that is SNELL & DOT approved is worthier than a this one

That's indeed a great NEWS for me. Light helmets with equally good safety are WELCOME buy for me.

So, its finally here?? Should be really interesting, considering the high standards they had set with the erstwhile GPone series lids. Two thumbs up to Steelbird
