You need a gentle rubbing compound, you can get at any car accessory shop or hardware shop. Just be careful, if the scratch is deep then you will need to repaint the whole tank, as it's a small area and blending would be pointless.

Finally, I test rode the 2.0 today.
The bike looks fabulous, and the showroom had all the 3 colours on display. Red+white is drop dead gorgeous, followed by blue, & then black. People were staring at the bike all through the way, and were definitely thinking of it as a bigger bike. Now coming to the ride experience: 1) The low-end torque is way better than outgoing v1. I launched the bike from standstill at 1.4k RPM in 3rd gear, & it felt the same as the v1 in 1st gear. The power delivery seems linear now, & there is no dearth of power across the RPM band. 2) The seat is higher & wider, but I felt lack of cushioning. It seemed like the seat is just a plank of wood covered with leather, and it will definitely be less comfortable vs v1 for long rides. The seat is more grippier now, due to change in leather. The v2 should be more comfortable for taller riders, some of who felt the seating posture too cramped on the v1. Didn't get a chance to try the pillion seat, but I'm sure it is mighty uncomfortable (I have sat pillion on the Ninja250R for about 100km non-stop. The R15's pillion seat is higher, hence definitely worse in comfort). 3) The v2 feels more planted than the v1 & you can barely feel the rear of the bike (while on the move). The bike corners/ turns better, but that's at the cost of flickability which is slightly lesser than the v1. 4) The exhaust is more bassy than the outgoing v1, and a welcome change. Some changes most have not noticed/ talked about: 1. The visor is greyish, vs. plain, transparent on v1 2. The speedo/ tacho backlight comes on only with the pilot lamp/ HL, vs the v1 in which it is always on Overall, the bike is complete now: aesthetically & ride-quality wise. However, after riding the bike, I do feel that the price hike (INR 8k) is unwarranted. The v1 was already priced higher than other bikes in the 150cc category, & the v2 doesn't offer anything much more than the v1, but only improves on a few areas where the v1 was lacking. Moreover, Yamaha are said to have been saving a good chunk of money due to localisation of most parts of the bike. Hence they could have used up this cushion, than increase the price & hence their margin. Performance-wise, the v1 & v2 have the same DNA. For an existing v1 owner, the v2 is not worth the upgrade unless one is completely floored by the looks. All in all, kudos to Yamaha for working on all feedback received for the v1. The only thing that they missed out on improving is the headlights - which we can anyway fix by installing HIDs. Overall, there is not one flaw I see on this bike - the v2.0. Looking forward to long-term ownership reviews of the bike, to see how the internal changes (known & unknown) behave. YES!YAMAHA.

Thanks for the review Nikhil. One thing that I as a non R15 V1 owner noticed was that the V2 was less flickable than the V1. But overall (despite the price) was very pleased with the bike and hence booked it immediately

Why the heck did they do that? A step back according to me (personal opinion)... the always on backlight is extremely useful during dusk and dawn riding, and when you are riding through tunnels and subways... low light conditions where you may not require headlights but the backlight provides clear instrument reading... there is also the sports bike feel to it akin to the bigger boys....

It is still the best in class, & in that price range. Good decision to buy it. ![]() Quote:
Also, there still is an all-black one available. Quote:
Moreover, it is always advisable to ride in tunnels, dusk & dawn with HL on.

The r15 v1 was a masterpiece...... The v2 is overdone..... The brakes are much inferior than v1. V1 had razor sharap brakes......and the bike felt like a part of me when riding it, so flickable, so obeying..., so much composed and so much practical.... It had a blend of everything in it...performance, comfort, handling..... The v2 is heavier and that extra weight is felt as soon as u ride it, which is a bad thing.... But the way the bike pulled at low rpms was amazing.... Bt the v2 definitely luks damn sexy....
yamaha should give an option between v1 and v2....
