Default Bajaj Dominar 400 Launched at 1.36 Lakh with 35Ps and 35Nm!

Bajaj Auto today officially named its biggest and most powerful motorcycle as Bajaj Dominar 400. The Dominar 400 shall be unveiled in India on 15th of December 2016. Dominar is a derivation from a Spanish word which means to excel or exceed in power.

Confirming the launch Mr. Eric Vas, President (Motorcycle Business), Bajaj Auto,
We are delighted to announce the name of the most anticipated brand from the Bajaj Auto stable. The Dominar 400 has already created lot of excitement amongst bikers, which is befitting for whats going to be one of the most path breaking products in the history of the Indian motorcycle industry.
The first Dominar 400 motorcycle was rolled out from Bajaj Autos Chakan Plant on 18th November

Bajaj Auto has started production of the much awaited 400cc motorcycle at its Chakan plant. Interestingly, Bajaj calls the bike a 400cc bike and not by any name. So after two name changes unofficially, we are still do not have an official confirmation of the name! The bike is to be launched mid-December this year. This will be hitting the market a few months before the BMW, TVS and 2017 Duke 390!

Bajaj Auto has commenced the production of its biggest and most powerful 400cc bike. The first batch of the bike was rolled out today at Bajaj Autos Chakan plant. What makes the roll-out even more special is that this came out of an assembly line that is managed only by women engineers. This is a milestone event for Bajaj Auto as a manufacturer embracing the best technology as well an organisation committed to gender diversity.

This is a historic moment for Bajaj Auto as exactly 15 years back in November 2001 the company had launched its iconic brand Pulsar which went on to define the sports motorcycle market in India. Pulsar continues to be a market leader in the sports segment for 15 years. The new big bike model, which is scheduled to be launched around mid-December 2016, is also expected to dominate Indian roads in this segment for the coming decade.

According to Mr. Eric Vas, President (Motorcycle Business), Bajaj Auto,
"We are proud to announce this historic roll out at Chakan today with our all women assembly line. Our new bike will set new benchmarks in its segment. There is already a lot of buzz, anticipation and excitement about the bike and its features, price and name. However, all our patrons and bike enthusiasts will have to wait for some time, till we share details of the new offering."

Just as the old Duke was going out... But that all LED headlamp though! Drool worthy! Wonder if they gave it rider modes, especially since the new Duke has them. I don't see how this would then "Dominate" the roads for the next decade. Unless of course, KTM decides to make the incoming duke as costly as it's brothers from other companies. I'm waiting for this bike actually. Want to see if it pushes any other Indian manufacturers into the same foray. Hero is yet to deliver on the HX250R, Hastur, etc, etc. TVS's Akula may just fizzle out, if their track record for converting concepts into production bikes holds out.
Don't matter what it is: Touring; Racing; Commuting. All I know is, I belong on the saddle.

    Rides : Honda CB Twister(Feb 2011 - Present) | TVS Apache RTR 180 ABS(Sept 2012 - May 2016) | Honda CBR250R C-ABS Repsol(March 2017 - Present)

Production has begun without the name being finalized, I hope they decide something sooner otherwise they will have to recall the sold vehicles and put a name sticker later.

If they manage the marketing and sales well then it could mean a true desi competitor for RE has finally arrived.

I guess 1.59 lacs ex-showroom Delhi considering the fact that they will have to keep a gap between CS400 and Duke390 for RS400 which will come in future.
