Yeah these japs
if they would have stuck to making their computers we would have had Brit and american motorcycles...gr8 ones like INDIAN Truimph HD apna Enfield etc. Sadly these guys kept lowering costs and stuff and tried to beat Honda and other jap companies at their own game [V] eventually HD only survived "all-throughout" bec it stuck to bein different.

Arpan bro , why the negativity abt Japanese ?
Didn't they succeed in making kickass bikes that are more reliable and powerful , smoother than Eurpeans ? And isn't every bike other than Enfiels and Jawa owe its existence to Japanese ?

Ricci, not being negative, just putting my point of view. What i meant to say was that Japs always known for cost-cutting and VFM(value for money). But when you are a true biker,VFM is not our dictionary right??We just by what rules the mind, brose through history of motorcycles in 1950s etc and you will know what me trying to convey

Exactly Arpan,
British/American bikes are more about character and spirit than die hard performance. If U R a true enthusiast U can not only ride ur machine but are ready to get ur palms greasy (in the literal sense) when needed. I just love the Triumphs! The Germans are the best of both. A lot of heritage and character, and also die hard reliability. The Italians...they are performance in a sort of eccentric, cutting-edge technology, way. Radical engine and chassis designs etc. The Aprilias, Moto-Guzzis, Laverdas, Piaggios, Bimotas, Cagiva they are all radically different designs. And who can forget the likes of Ducati. Man whatever anyone Says I feel that they are the Ferraris of the Motorcycling world. Just as exclusive and fast. Esp the 900 series. They are also sport that Blood red Ferrari colour.

Agreed Rash... that the Pulsar is much more Value for Money than the Karizma (and that's what Jap bikes have meant to the millions worldwide). And that's the reason I am waiting for the 180 DTS-i, while Arpan already has one!
But Coming back to Jap bikes... the Karizma is surely more Japanese than the Pulsar. The Pulsar is as Japanese as the Tata Indica/Indigo is Italian. Tokyo R&D did the basic body design that was later refined by Bajaj. Everything else is in house. In the same way as the Indica was designed by I.D.E.A (or was it ItalDesign?) Agreed that Bajaj got it's bike builing expertise from Kawasaki (which is as Japanese as it can get). But it was the Bajaj in-house team that totally refined the Cailber 115 which is way better than its predecessor. Bajaj also has associations with Cagiva of Italy and some other Australian company in the past! (besides Piaggio's Vespa ofcourse!)
