'Close on the heels of the stylish FZ-S, Yamaha is about to unleash yet another version based on the original blockbuster bike. Sporting a half-fairing and dual front headlamps, the new FZ will borrow cues from the litre-class Yamaha FZ-1. Power output from the refined 153cc motor is likely to remain unchanged at 14bhp as are all other vital specifications. Expected to hit the roads shortly, the new bike will be priced at a premium above the standard FZ-16.

Yamaha is on the verge of launching upgrade kits for their sporty R15 and FZ16. The upgrades will be available as kits and can be retrofitted on existing motorcycles. The kits will be available post their laiunch in Yamaha showrooms soon.

ideally it would have been spot on had they revised the wheelbase to make it a bit longer as it would suit tall riders well and also provide a better ride for the rear passenger as the bike right now is uncomfortable for tall people and the rear is just too short to give a good ride.

And ofcourse a little revision in the power upwards would have made it the best of everything.

and i'd just love to say kudos to Yamaha for the fact that they're able to offer the kits to existing owners as well.

This is precisely what Bajaj need to learn. This is what you call a company that is true to its customers loyalty and the fact that they care about their existing base as well as their potential customers.

Unlike Bajaj they havent screwed their existing customers over the modifications. They've grown in stature for me with this decision. Great going Yamaha.

absolutely correct, and i m sure those who are complaining that Yamaha is just going h.honda & bajaj way by just offering variants of FZ's would get their answer in the year 2010.What Yamaha is doing right now is necessary for them as they had to establish their base first in the premium segment, and now that they have done it with R15,FZ,FZ-S & new Fazer(as the record goes even it will be successful) i am very much sure that next year their will be bombardments in each and every segment whether it be scooterates,125cc(performance oriented),100 cc(performance oriented) and last but not the least more variants on R and FZ series(ofcourse 200cc or above).Just mark my words it will be very difficult to stop Yamaha in 2010.and this is just the beginning.

That is the same case with P220 (not trying to make a brand war). Still, Fazer will surely make a heck of a brilliant touring bike, atleast it looks like though!

Altough many had claimed that the headlamps look like those in R15, but to me they look very different. ???

@shaheen-From where did you get that image?Seems like someone is out on touring on a yet to be launched bike.

Coming onto the bike it looks nice & that new blue colour also looks good. This is a much better looking bike than the FZ-S & somehow in this picture it even looks better than the original FZ but need to check this in real to come to any conclusion.

@ Shaheen
Thanks for sharing picture.

I think this looks really good but i wish it would have more punch in its engine, may be around 15.5-16 bhp.
