I hope they get rid of the cheap looking speedo console. The R15 has the best looking speedo console.

Smile Good Move by Yamaha

This is really a good move by Yamaha, the naked styling of FZ was not liked by some people (includes Yam. fans), This bike looks stunning and more acceptable to wider audience.

EDIT : Can we nick-name this as FZ-R ??

My personal opinion w.r.t. market..

1. FZ-R would be priced something like 80K, so it will have little impact on 150ccs like Hunk/Uni/Xtreme/P150, as these bikes are priced below 70K.

2. Zma vs FZ-R, no way, Zma gives more cc, more power, more accln, more top speed, and the price of Zma-R is really a steal, plus a proven one in touring and reliability...FZ-R will not affect Zma-R in a big way.

3. So the Fz-R will compete largely with RTR-Fi/P180/RTR180/P200. RTR-Fi is not selling in good number, RTR180 is yet to be launched, so immediate effect will be on Bajaj (especially P180/P200).

Actually I see it more as a Blow to the yet to be launched Apache RTR 180..

lets see if customers want the race bred Apache RTR 180 or the Semi Faired FZ16 (my guess is that both will be priced quite similarly)..
TVS would have a hard time fixing the price of the RTR 180 and make it more appealing to the bikers now

I kinda knew you would say this ...
currently the only bikes that seems to be sold with the USP of the upgraded 'looks' are the P150, and the P180... now they have another bike which competes on the looks aspect....

Ofcourse it would do a bit of damage to the RTRs and even the ZMAs... heck even the R15s but they would be limited to the ones who bough these bikes for its poser value.... ! (which i know are quite a few)

Opinions!!!

Hmmm...Personally I feel, the faired FZ's gonna be a bigger blow to the new Pulsar180, if at all it competes in a 180cc segment. Whereas RTR180 is concerned, it will have atleast its performance to take of things ...(considering the performance of RTR160FI, RTR180 will be expected to give tough competition to the bikes in one segment above it)

Coming back to the faired FZ16, its good to see that Yamaha is not sitting idle after the success of FZ16 and is continuously working on it in a positive way.

I would say that if they come out with a fully faired 250 R series!
