Are you a CXO of Yamaha India by any chance, that you are thumping your opinion on us all here..
my friend i am not thumping my opinion on any one,i am just saying whats the truth and what is correct for Yamaha in current market. They first need to create a base first to launch such high range bikes, trust me my dear friend in just a year(mid of 2010 onwards)we would definately be getting higher end bikes from Yamaha after scooterate and 100-125cc bike is launched. And i am saying this so confidntally because i know a company insider and also my friend is a Yamaha dealer.I got the information about fazer launch nearly 15days before it was leaked in xbhp.I am not trying to act smart trust me and please dont take my words in other sense as i am not trying to be arrogant.

ok the delay in actual launch of a bike or scooter and the declared month or year of launch is very much above on year here i guess
atleast six months is minimun
then at that pace.. i would see a 250 in more 2 - 4 years

and jumping back to a 125 cc makes no sense.... gladiator is already a good bike but still people prefer shine or hh etc just because of the name
and by the feedback YAMAHA are getting thru r15 and fz
i dont think they will jump back to cheaper options

its time to move on .. time to move forward...
and yamaha has already settled in the market
how much more strong position would they want...

there is no time to target stunner... and really i dont think its a threat in anycase .... i dont see to many stunners around
posers already have a option in FZ ..

and with bajaj threatening to launch the ninja.... its a direct challenge to the R15 only..... nothing else comes more near comparatively than the R15 to compete the ninja
although R15 itself is not so comparable to the ninja
so ... even yamaha at the moment must be thinking of a 250CC

HONDA has no threats... HH is busy competiting with bajaj

its will straight competition between KBajaj 's NINJA and the R15 or some other mill by yamaha ... P220 is already competiting and causing harm

now if you would be owner of a company
would you care about penny profits from a 125 cc or would be worried about your premium segment

already it has taken a lot of hardwork for yamaha to set their ground here
yamaha is not foolish like suzuki to attack directly already set things like honda unicorn and honda activa....
the access is selling but to define the word competition... it will take some time ....
but yamaha took out its own segment and clearly won out ....
style and performance criterias
now they must protect their segment....
YAMAHA today are known for the R15 and FZ and not gladiator etc

give it a thought
just my opinion and no offense
cheers

Dude please dont take this personally , but what you have discussed in the posts seems to be some kind of marketting strategy that yamaha will apply further. But if thats the case, then on what basis do we agree with you..? we can only make guesses and hope for things to go our way...no one is saying what will happen ...because obviously no one knows... unless you've got a really reliable source behind your statements.
And this being the thread about the new FZ or the Fazer as it is officially called...I say that my part of the post above is completely off topic. And for a 150cc machine...the Fazer is my alround choice..though the extra green leaves would really hurt...but that would be a personal choice. I thought the same about the R15 when i went for it...but i have no regrets since i've got millions of reasons for what its all worth.
Go !!!!!!! Yamaha :-)

friend i dont mean that Yamaha will take a step backwards by launching a 125cc bike,i know that gladiator is the best bike in the 125cc segment, but what i said that 125cc would be performance oriented and will set a style benchmark in the 125cc just like R15 & Fz so that it would be a option for those who cant afford a fz or R15.May be the engine will be of gladiator and i dont think it will be a step backward but they will again create a new segment which only has stunner as a option.Think again friend and regarding 250 i am very much sure it wont take more then a year(mid next year).

people are already criticizing the r15 inspite of so many good features already in it
they need more power.. more low end torque .. more performance

125 will be a step back!!

I would say bring on Yamaha YZF R125 @ 75-85k and I'll be smiling cheek to cheek while riding it .. but that can only happen in my dreams

That means around 83k OTR in bangalore .. I must say Yamaha really price their product well
So what it is costlier than P220 and Karizma, after all it's the best looker , alas looks isn't the only criteria for a bike

Default Fazer brochure

look what I got from Yamaha showroom in chennai.
price about Rs 82K on road...

they are advertising it as a touring bike. now that spy picture some where in the himalayas makes sense...

specs are exactly the same...not much change there.
