The first bike that comes into mind for that price is 220. I think there will be lesser takers for this fazer, if the price tag is not changed

menace all the way mate... much better option

this is complete non sense and madness according to me
no comments on whether it will sell or not but something i know for sure
performance wise it will suc* ... the FZ 16 specification with some kg more
that means it will not even perform to the level of FZ 16 ...

Hmm...i have a few thoughts on the prizing..
..INDIA is prime market for BAL..they dont have much customer base anywhere..so its their bread and butter..they have to give more in less prize...otherwise they will be wiped out from here..
For YAMAHA..its not the condition..
they just want to try their luck in a booming market..they are already established worldwide..
and proven themselves..
they can simply degrade their..high end bikes..as per indian road conditions..and make profit from it..no need to invest much..use existing technology ..so i dont think they have high production cost or somethin like that..so..high prize for high production cost..is somethin i cant digest..
then the question is..
why shud they look to penetrate the market where there are already very strong players competiting neck to neck...
i m just happy that..we get worldclass technology..and reliability
plus one of the best international brand name..best looking bikes on road...at few k more than other bikes which are still evolving..undergoin updations and research..
yamaha customer base is different..they know that..
thats why they dont need to think of other bikes ka prizing..look at rx100..not a single 100cc bike came closer to it..till now..

and then they tried to compete wid herohondas and all..with lower cc bikes..they screwed...themselves..
now they have better strategy..
they dont need to establish themselves here as a maximum sellin motorcycle..in india..they are achieving that somewhere else...they are exploring the most ignored part of indian biking market..exclusivity..looks..styling..
they just want to make profit of the world's most happening.. motorcycle market..
wel..
abt the performance..performance wise..bike is best in its segment..
a lightweight 150 cc bike..with best pickup..widest tyres..monoshock..and this explains compromised milage and topspeed....so at that prize u have the best bike in its class...why go for something at less prize goin to give more..but..not the best it can give...yamaha are givin top speed of wat other bike manufacturer were not able to give with bigger engine..till few days back..so..if u compare this ..prize justifies everythin..
yamaha are actually giving more in less...performance wise..and thats why they cost more...

others giving less in more...so they can afford to slice prizes...

this is my personal opinion..
plzz dont draw any conclusions..but..do correct me if i m wrong..

I can clearly see Yamaha failing in near future when there will be enough FZ16 on the roads and there will not be any of three factors to save its skin namely FE, Power or exclusivity.
thats a pretty contradictory statement sumit!!

what bike do you ride?? a HH?

and if yamaha also goes by the "volumes" trust me for this there would be more r15 and fz16 on the road than anything else you have ever seen. there goes your exclusivity!

and yes, yamaha is desperate to go back to its older days. remember the legends like RD350 and RX100?? then they thought of playing the volume game after the demise of 2 strokes, with yamaha crux!!! it took them more than 10 years to come up with a seller --- R15.
do you seriously feel the R15 is a performance bike?? and don't you think it is way too OVER priced for a 150cc bike?
but then the fact remains the same....its selling like a hot cake. almost everyone wants to own it just because it looks "ohh soo good"!!

just think for once.

you want exclusivity, but you want it cheaper.
you want performance, but want the bike to be amazing when it comes to fuel efficiency!

would a lamborghini still be exclusive if it were priced at something like a skoda octavia?
would you still take out ur phone to click pictures when every second car that you pass is a lamborghini??

I do agree that FZ16 feels a bit under powered compared to its competition --- Pulsar. And I also do agree that nowadays yamaha is charging a bit extra premium on their bikes. Can't see why anyone will buy a fazer. But, then couldn't see why anyone would ever buy an R15 either.

guess yamaha realised onething. Nowadays in India posse value is more important than how well the bike performs...and I guess they are right as their posse bikes are selling, and are a dream for many "enthusiasts".

Anyways, the Fazer is getting launched on the 5th of July, and should be on display for all by the 6th of July.

a good news for R15 riders, Yamaha has decided to import the daytona racing kits for R15s. Should be available in the market latest by August 2009.
Keep Checking!!

^^ahem a bit late on the news front

anyways you gotta ride a R15 to judge the premium value of this bike and you will see why people buy it..

as far as the main topic is concerned i just saw a fazer in flesh in the showroom and looks awesome from the front...the appeal gets somewhat lost on the side view though (personal opinion).

It will be 80 K on the road in navi Mumbai...and official launch is 6th july..

IMHO...if this bike had a full fairing ...the same rear view and a same exhaust it wud have seriously kicked ass of all the bikes in the price range of 80k - 1 Lac

to be honest i thought Yamaha nailed everything (barring the engine capacity/wheelbase) with this bike until i saw the price. And price in our country and markets is the biggest factor

Lower 2-3k you buy a P220 DTS-I
Put some 8-9k you buy a P220 DTS-FI
Simple
