Another thing which strikes me is that we (as in majority of the people who post) do not constitute the mass buyer. We are, at best, a 40,000 strong force, and I guess even that is an extended extrapolation. That (mass buyer) tag goes to the millions and millions of people, who perhaps do not even surf the net. For them, power in a motorcycle is not primary. It is the fuel economy, followed by the looks. Though this order is debatable, it is a safe assumption that this is their ballpark. They want something cheap and good looking which good kilometers to the liter. HH are notorious here on xBHP for catering to that exact audience. Yamaha are simply following suit, albeit in a slightly more refined manner. They are creating miniatures of their international arsenal, and showcasing their strengths based on the brand value. Creating a different engine segment would involve investment, and other incremental costs which would make even these smaller bikes too expensive for the mass buyer. And Yamaha do not want that. This new FZ, therefore, would be in the same engine capacity as the earlier FZ's. Sadly, the performance freaks are in a minority. So, Yamaha, when's that bonsai V-Max coming?

I would say that... Thats a good move by Yamaha... Why... Adding a variety to their FIRST MOST SUCCESSFUL 4-STROKE MODEL in INDIA.
Secondly... Why does everyone cribs about adding more weight to the 153cc bike. Guys FUEL INJECTION... We might be missing this point. This bike might house Fuel Injection. A counter move by Yamaha to the EXPECTED PULSAR 200-DTS-FI (As per my sources)... To seperate the customer segment from the present FZ16... Yamaha might give this FZ the high tech Injection system. Its no visible in the pics... The Side panels might be housing a small radiater. What say??? Fuel injection would do the needful to compensate the added weight... And also imporve the performance.... Remember PULSAR 220... 5kgs extra weight & fuel injection. Also it cant be said presently just by seeing in the pics that... engine is same 153cc... It might be 180-200cc mil... A bored out version of 153cc engine. same platform engine... will help Yamaha to keep the change cost low. Rest of the spec seems same.. handle bar... rear shocks... tyres. Lets take a weight & watch policy.

Guys, isn't there any probability that these could be just modded versions??
![]() Even if it is, or it is not, i.e. it is in Yamaha's pipeline... IMO, it looks nice and in proportion to overall body.. unlike P220 it atleast doesn't look funny .. But, it still seems to still have drums in rear.. so, I feel Yammy should provide more goodies to make it a bang for the buck! If they're going to raise to 80k for just the fairing.. it'd be like a loot like buying iPhone for 30k when there are already better options and at lower prices.. Still there are certainly people, who'll certainly opt for this.. Market has every kind of buyer..HH/ HMSI sells stickers and Yammy sells plastic.. nice.. ![]() Maybe bcoz U and I won't buy it..

This was always on the card and they have been planning to come with the half-faired FZ from a pretty long time. When the product was conceptualized this half faired version was also there.
90% of all the Karizma that are sold these days is only because it comes from HH,it is tere in the market for 6 years.People don't give a damn about the performance that Karizma has to offer. They just need a bike to show that are riding one of the expensive bikes in the market.FZ-Y can become a good competitor for Karizma only negative being Yamaha doesn't have the same brand association as HH. |
