Hi Guys,
This post may seem like a rant but it's fresh hot (err!! cold) after coming home drenched in Chennai heavy rain (right now it is still raining). Well, my point is: Generally Indian roads get worse in the slightest bit of rain but no road stands to the onslaught of monsoonal rains, add to that blaring headlights of oncoming vehicles and hammering of showers reducing the visibility to a couple of meters, Here we are, Bikers - Small or big, raiding on the rain - hoping to go home early to loved ones, before the rain gets heavier and worse. Cars mainly (and some other bikers too) care a dam* about the fellow bikers on the road and splash a WALL of water on the bikers. Superbike or TVS50, we all have a small spark plug running the show, and a drop of water, on our bikes, will cause a splutter and the bike dies down right on the middle of the road, all while; the offender runs free, splashing water all over whilst sitting on the comfort of his AC and raiding back home. All I am saying is, when it rains, please .. please.. give due consideration to fellow riders, and ride accordingly. Remember that as much as you would like to go home and snug in bed with your child, that guys likes to do to. NB: If you are wondering, why in the world, does the biker (here me) decides to brave the rain, instead wait it out -> The answer is (a) its monsoon rain - never know when it will stop (b) IMHO, its better to brave the rain, than wait and get stuck in the inundated water in the overflowing subways / flyovers / roads. Sorry if did rant much, but hey, its XBHP, I have a voice ![]() Cheers |

@IFlylow - just want to understand to whom this is being directed?

If you intend to say its for bikers, then the only option is not to use motorcycles during the rain. Reason being that, even on a slightest drizzle the rear tyre from motorcycle splashes slush on to the person who's tailgating. So its either the person has to stop riding/driving behind a biker. Think about this, when a car tailgates a motorcycle, think about the small soil particles & water being thrown on the car's windshield; if a wiper is used, it spoils the wiper blade & even causing to block the vision. Point - Biker or cages, use proper protection, learn how to ride in rains; certain things are inevitable.

this is not for the rash , "water in your face world" car drivers:
cars dont have the ability to gauge a pothole depth...all they can see is road filled with water.they do go slowly but sometimes suddenly fall in a pit or a hole thereby splashing not only bikers but pedestrians...such incidents cannot be escaped by the cage drivers nor can we divert by getting splashed.

Get a good quality rain suit - I have invested in one and I desperately wait for the rain in Bangalore which never comes. At times I leave the office at the time when it is raining - the traffic is sparse and I get home in less than half the time. And 100% dry of course.
When I look around in the rains, I am amazed there is not a single brand which sells affordable rain suits for motorcyclists. One of the random business ideas I keep getting nowadays; I should put that into action! |

@Bluevolt - Was waiting to hear the comments from you
![]() With the single piece rain suite, the only limitation is the rider. Very true; OT - Yes, you need to seriously think over selling gears & touring accessories.
