hey ppl,
have been havin my dtsi for 53 days now n it has clocked 3380 kms n is thru the first two services. i will be sailing off by christmas....so will not be around for 8-9 months during which time there wld be no one to use the bike. wat do i do in oder to maintain its condition thru the 8-9 months. i saw the manusl it suggests that the spark plugs to be taken off n 2t oil is to be poured n the engine should be cranked so thet the piston n cylinders r well lubricated, then drain the tank n disconn the btteries, clean n oil parts to prevent rust. but the service center guys says if u don use the bike the oild will dry up n enginw wld be ceased n one has to open up the engine.....that sounds scary n wldnt want that to happen. is ti possible to ask my mom to start it will the electric sstart motor everyday for n let it run for 15 mind, but then wld the battery hole enough charge for 8 months with 15 mins running everyday?? wat if it runs out of charge? guys i am confused pls suggest how do i go abt this

Sanu,
the methods which were given in the manual are true, i dont think the oil will dry up. Or else u can give ur bike to a 'trustworthy person' who would take care of ur bike. Or else, u can handover ur bike to me ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Put bike on mainstand before leaving...make sure its in a covered place with a garage cover...get someone to wash it once in 10 days...
Disconnect battery terminals, drain out the carb. Remove the mirrors.make sure there is no fuel in the tank.after doing all this kick start the bike..run it till engine stalls due to absence of fuel. Keep battery at home. Tell your family to go and get battery charged frm a battery dealer once in a month.By doing all this your bike will be in perfect condition. Bye, Arpan
