People do stare, but I would also confess to the fact that a few people do appreciate the fact that we, as motorcyclists take full care of our safety; especially a few car drivers have actually said this, which is really good to hear.

Very True said Aryan. What I have seen is that people in cages and out of them, feel offended in God-knows-what ways when they see a rider in a good riding gear. Weird questions are bombarded at traffic intersections, railways crossings but lets not forget that these questions and queries are nothing in comparison to the wounds and damages we might suffer without them.

We at times spend around 50% of the cost of our steed on our riding gear because we know bruises are not ornaments, nor are they Decoration.

How true! I ride my R15 wearing a full face helmet (helmets are compulsory here), & a Probiker riding glove.. The helmet doesn't make people stare at me, but the combination of a riding glove & the R15 does. Initially, the stares people gave used to make me concious, but nowadays I don't even look around. People do keep passing comments, especially discussions between bike riders & their pillions.
But at the end of the day, we don't wear the riding gear for other road users, but for ourselves & because we understand & try to prepare ourselves for the kind of unforseen situations we as bike riders are prone to. So why bother about their stares or what they have to comment (in hush tones)..

The pleasure is when your rear wheel slides, and you bring it back;
and when the front wheel lifts, you take your time bringing it back.

People in pune think their head are of steel and their body is made of titanium so they dont need any of the protective gears, i have come across many idiots asking me why i wear a full denim jacket and wear a ninja helmet to drive a splendor, all i say is ITS MY STYLE and i dont care a damn about others.

Gray-haired riders don't get that way from pure luck.

May be its because you look SEXY in it and your irresistible to touch! Why take it in a negative way guys? We are after all the trend setters and doing what is correct! Just enjoy the celebrity status at the crossing and signals!

Still if you feel need to do some thing then next time someone gives you a cold stare just ask him does he needs autograph or is he just a gay ogler?

LOL Ken Da, It was really classic.

The basic Image of Bikers in India is responsible for this, Most of the people in India consider bikers as BAD boys, rich spoiled kids or people who have nothing to do.

Even when I ride with just my ProBikers Gloves, They look at me in amaze, look at my bike from all angles for modifications. Stand in FRONT of me at traffic signals, Some even start provocing me for a street races.

As most of them believe that either I am comming from a race or going to one

And this is the condition in Delhi, what would be situation in other smaller cities, I can just Imagine

they stare at us just for one reason..
they rip/overtake/go crazy on seeing us just for one reason..
they ask the cost and sometimes touch and feel them just for one reason..

THEY THINK WE ARE PROFESSIONAL RACERS!!
that's true..
