Question why do people stare at you when you wear gloves & protective gear

i have the lot of experience in that while standing in the signal ,people all around you stare when you wear riding gloves ,race jacket ,knee guards .
and once they have seen you (cab drivers, auto drivers, teens ) all act like crazy and start ripping their bikes in front of you & overtake you rudely.
i als understand if u have some pretty chick on a scooty & try to show off,
but have i seen this so many times to us bikers who wear gloves ,guards.

Yeah, because we look like aliens or racers or plain idiots for them! They at times even touch me and feel me! Really hate that.

+1
I completely agree with this. You get a billion stares from cabbies and even pedestrians. When college going teenage-posers on p150s see me a p220 with full riding gear, they go berserk and start giving rude stares and deliberately overtaking.

One helmetless rider on a CT100 who had stopped next to me at a traffic signal even had the audacity to ask me how much the complete riding gear costed me (armoured jacket + gloves + knee guards) and when i said around 15k, he said "What a waste of money!!"

They touch you

The day i bought my helmet, office colleagues asked me the price. On hearing it they said "Itne mei toh ek puraana scooter aajaaega "
Also, get those disapproving stares from people who think i am some kind of freak with lots of money to waste. Now thats true, i would love to waste some money on Joe Rockets

They think we wear all that for racing, which is obviously not true.
The worst comment I received was (translated to English): Why is he showing off wearing all that when he is just riding an R15-by wearing all that it won't look like an R1!
