same as jd66
+1 grease monk.

i also use it to warn oncoming vehicles if their head lights are on high beam and if they're blinding me,i flash the light and some polite people on two-wheeler and some times 4 wheeler switch to low beam, some times even truck drivers flash their lights ..but these bus drivers never bother to do that, they are the most reckless drivers on the road.

Some People doesn't know what is Pass light means. If one flashes they flash back has we are playing some hide & seek.

It is solely ment for awaring people that i am entering the corner or overtaking someone or you should give enough road gap to pass.

Be aware that when you want to pass somebody & when you flash them, if they flash back you try to slow down because he also wants to pass by. This had happen to me ones, i did not have enough width to pass through, a car was trying to overtake an auto, when i flashed him he flashed back & didn't gave me any gap to go buy. I really had to avoid him by braking hard.

The Pass light is used for 3 reason

1.To let the person ahead you know that you wish to overtake.
2.To request the person from oncoming traffic to get back in his lane if he is overtaking anyone.
3.To request the oncoming traffic to switch to low beam if he is blinding you

Not if the car driver stops his car, turns about and comes chasing your down for showing him that. Happened to my friend. and it was his fault for showing his finger when he should've flashed his beam.

This light non-sense is very very annoying. On outer ring road I was doing about 80kmph in my car when suddenly in the OVRM I see a biker flashing headlights. Very distracting coz the light was blinding me. I was livid. Swerved left and he got the shock of his life Up ahead at the traffic light he started arguing with me. My mother was on board, else I wouldn't have hesitated for some on road 'exercise'.

All poser jokers If somebody has the balls to overtake between a truck and a car doing 80kmph, they will do so without doing showgiri.

That said, it is helpful in asking people to stay in their lane while overtaking.

Well i avoid flashing lights as much as possible because i drive a car too and know how distracting it is when someone continously flashes headlights behind, would be better if he just gives a little honk at night.

Sometimes giving a dipper (just 1 flash) is necessary when a slowpoke doing 40-50 moves in right lane and theres very less gap b/w divider and car.
When in car i usually put the RVM on night mode and both ORVM pointing towards tarmac at night so nothing blinds me. Hope my Linea had a auto dimming ORVM to cope with such scenarios

Ya man...I always put pass light. But wen it does not work, it comes naturally . But most of the ppl dont knw the meaning of flashing the beam...Its frustating really!!! Y they need to drive in high beam in city wen we hv street lights..tht to in small lanes...Thr r pot holes u may hit thm...The new bees getting new cars...I feel they dont deserve it at all. Even if u show them hand signal to go to low beam, they jst cant understand..The new car owners dont mind to put fog lights on a clean summer nite..In this matter I feel the truck drivers or cabbies are more intelligent. In highway wen u put pass light they respect its meaning.
