Default Dedicated to festival of pollution

Jan 13, celeberated as "Bogie festival", probably might have originated to burn the evil thoughts & start fresh ideas. But in course of time, things have changed to burn old "things" only. Here're 2 cents of my pictures taken on 13 Jan in Chennai around 07:15 AM.

After looking the pictures, pls don't conclude that it is the early morning fog, its actually smoke. I'd a mild headache by the time I reached office .

The first 3 pictures are the way connecting NH5 & NH4 towards Tambaram byepass. Pics 4,5 & 6 are from Chennai to Tambaram on Chennai byepass road.

PS - They've been taken using mobile, so pls excuse the low quality.

General Biking Discussion Approved.

This is the case with almost every other city in the country today. Delhi/ NCR is covered under a thick cloud of haze/ smog all through the season of winter, because of which everyone is having problems - right from asthma and hard time breathing to some serious road-accidents on Expressways!

In the days to come when material affluence becomes increasingly democratized, quality of air & environment will set apart rich nations from the poor.

What's disapponting is that we have others mistakes to learn from. But we don't. Any talk of curbing emissions makes us, developing nations insecure. I don't know if those fears are justified or not.

Well, I forgot to mention a vital point, I saw several vehicles without their headlights switched ON (like the ones above).

The worst among them were the morons who were speeding due to which they appeared out of no where & didn't have their headlights ON because they were saving electricity

We are the only one responsible for this mess. No matter what you ride, drive, smoke etc the fact is we are polluting. Its just a matter of time when affect on environment will become irreversible. Till then enjoy fresh air err polluted air.

Ssssssh! You are not supposed to say that

Ofcourse, I can type a few lines here about how few thousand RXs emission is negligible in overall scheme and stuff but that would serve no purpose I guess.

Wonder, if they pollute as much as it is made out to be

Dude last week I got the emission Certificate for my RX100 and done FC. When we compare with four wheeler it very less carbon emission I guess.

The Govt.is enforcing BS 4 etc. norms so strictly on our private vehicles, but I hardly ever see a private vehicle polluting (be it a car or a bike). Don't State Transport buses, lorries etc. have any such checks?

Emission norms? Never heard of anything like that in Hyd!!

I havent seen ANY vehicle being stopped in Hyd because it pollutes. The majority of the pollution is contributed from the public transport/heavy vehicles. Bus, Autos, Trucks. I dont understand when some action would taken against such erring vehicles.

PS- I did not join bhogi celebrations & asked my relatives & landlord not to start the fire because it pollutes the environment.

Couldn't agree more with you, but it is still a contribution to bad deed.

Well said. If not the private lorries (due to whatsoever reasons), but the govt vehicles are the highest pollution contributors, atleast I see 3 or 4 vehicle a day in a span of 1 hour ride (alarming)
