Yes. We have been through this before. This topic existed in the "old" xBhp. I have not tried it. I would not want to try this on a 1.1 Million INR bike. If I were a multimillionaire, probably... else I go with the manual.

I am also with the manual. But ocassional speed bursts are okay.

Motoman's way or manual's way, u just drain the oil after a couple of 100 kms and pour in fresh oil. That would help u a lot.

my fz-s just finished the break in period, and i did let her rip on a few occasions like did touch 100+ but only for few moments before i backed down, even in the manual it say "Avoid prolonged operation above 4500rpm" before 500 km & 6500 rpm before 1000 km & rev the engine freely through the gears & i have found when i compared it with another fz-s that had also come for its first service that my bike's pick up was much smoother than his, even the mechanic & the other biker thought the same, so i think you should take the engine to its high points but not for long & occasionally.

The users manual says that one should take it easy for the initial 1000km and under 7k rpm and so on.
While motoman's way just tells one to ride hard ripping the bike from day1.

Is there anybody who has followed the latter?

If so do post your comments about how your bike fares compared to those broken in using the users manual method.

IMHO my whole body just shivers thinking about motoman's way of r(a)ip(e)ping the bike from the beginning.... its downright scary.
But i'm just a beginner ... would definitely like to hear the veterans comments about this.

PS. I'm sorry if this had been posted earlier but i did use the search feature and didnt get an exclusive thread for this.

hey we have gone through this earlier... i thk there is some logic it in too.. bikes become free after being driven hard... i thk most of u might have experienced it ..

It says you should Hard Rev an engine during its initial days too?!

My only question to this guy is --> Honda/ Yamaha/ Suzuki are reputed manufacturers. They spend so much in R&D ...

Why would they give us wrong info when they say "Ride slow for first 100 miles" ?? Any explanation?

This is the Motoman method right? Well.. he doesn't say that the companies' methods are wrong explicitly, he actually tries to give a reason but that we will know only if we buy some e-book of his.. but at the same time he gives a logical explanation as to why his method also works!

And if I'm not wrong, there are a few xBhp members who've broken in their engines the Motoman way! I forgot who it was.. but he told me that the bike has absolutely no problems and is running smoothly! I'd suggest stick to the normal break-in method... unless someone can vouch for it in person!
