Default Help with Karizma ZMR

Hi,
I own a December 2009 model of Karizma ZMR. The bike has done around 7500 Kms and I have a couple of questions. Actually more than a couple.

First, i am not really happy with the brakes, and i mentioned this to the mechanic who said they will get better over time, but they haven't. Were you happy with the brakes when you tested the bike? If you were i would ask him to drain the brake fluid and see if there are is any air in the line.
Also can the steel brakehose be fitted, like the one on P220? If yes where can i get it?

Does Karizma ZMR comes with a O-ring chain, if not, which brand and which specification chain can i fit on the bike?

Also my friend has a R15 and i rode it, and i was mightily impressed by the super sticky tyres on that one, does any manufacturer makes that kind of tyres for the 18inch rim size on the ZMR? If not which brand will be best suited for good grip and touring?
Also which possible size can i upgrade the front and rear tyre to, without any trouble to the handling.

I have heard a lot about the fully synthetic oil. The bike manual recommends 10W30, which brand makes a synthetic oil which is good for this specification? Shell has also launched a couple of engine oils, will they be better than the one the servicing guys put?

And finally, what are the upgrade options for the headlight? Is HID a viable option, where can i get one from?

I stay in gurgaon, so any place in Delhi works for me.

Thanks a lot.

Zmr does not have o-ring chain as the chain is fully covered .

The pirelli 110-90 tyre is a great tyre in 18 inch and offers superb grip but very expensive . cheaper option is the michelin tyres .

Shell doesnt have any full synthetic oil in 10w-30 grade .it has shell advance sx4 thats 10w30 and is a better alternative than the svc oil . i dont think there is any full synth 10w40 . why dont you go for 10w40 instead . you will get options of motul 300v ,shell advance semi-synthetic ,agip full synthetic oils .

Hid can be installed on the zmr as its dc and is available in gurgaon . im also frm gurgaon btw

Me neither. Brakes feel a little soft and braking distance is pretty long compared to other bikes. Also, suspension is very soft, both front and rear on stock setting. Making it stiffer helps with braking.. try it out.

Some people have tried P220 chain on it. You'll need a custom front sprocket. The 220 chain will need some extra links as I'm told. I'm yet to try this too, but looking forward to it in the near future.

I have very little info on proper tarmac friendly soft grippy tires for ZMA. But I'd suggest not going much higher than 100/90 (stock). Bike acceleration is slow, mileage drops.. doesn't feel peppy anymore.

I tried Motul 300V 15w50. Didn't feel it did much. Bike felt pretty sad after 3500 kms on that oil, changed it at about 4K kms though it was meant to be used beyond.

I am running 100/90 halogen. Direct fit. You'll need additional relays (bosch/roots). I have a Osram 100/90 bulb.

1. Disc brakes tend to get better with usage.. However try bleeding the brake lines or using fresh brake fluid. That should improve.. If still not satisfied, get new brake units..
2. What happened to your stock chain? The O ring chain are open and need more maintenance. If you wish to change the chain, you'll have to change your sprockets as well.. Not worth it.!
3. The stock tyres suck.. If your pocket permits you can try Pirelli.. Or you have Michellin Sirac 120/80-18" for the rear and Michellin M45 (various sizes) for the front.. The Sirac is simply "WOW" for touring..
4. As far as my knowledge goes i dont "remember" seeing a xW30 synthetic oil anywhere. Synthetic oil is always better than mineral oil.
5. You can improve the lighting by putting in a HID kit.. Its worth the money. A proper installation wont have any side effects as well.

Thank you all for your response.

Got the brakes bleeded they feel better but still i feel they lack a bit of bite.

Also had a chat with KRP and they said they can fit an Oring chain on normal factory fitted sprocket.

Will putting HID void my warranty? I will probably then uprate the bulb. What wattage is safe?

Really feel the need for a better bulb in the night. Considering you can easily do 100 on the highways.

I stay in sector 15 gurgaon. If anyone knows where in gurgaon i can find the said tyres, let me know. Money is not that big an issue.

Thank you all again for the prompt reply.

Just for the info, i got a pirelli 110/80. feels pretty good. Let's see how it feels in the long run. Also was trying to get a Osram or philips 55/60W bulb for the headlight. Any idea where to get it from.

Thanks guys.
