Smile Biking - a game of heart

BIKING – A GAME OF HEART

Frenz, Biking is a game of heart, that’s what I think. Yes, there are other important factors like technique, reflexes, balance etc. but basically speaking if you do not have a heart of riding all other factors just cannot be applied.

I generally compare bikes particular super bikes with a horse. Horse looks beautiful and is surely a magnificent animal with which everyone falls in love but getting onto the horse and then galloping it is not everybody's piece of cake. I go trail riding wherein each ride has to have couple gallop strips and in open and free trails horse behaves very differently while he appears to be in total control in a riding school within the walls.

One can build a heart by learning how to ride effectively and one has to go through the schooling in a gradual manner. Everybody who can ride a bicycle can surely ride a bike too but just riding and riding with a skill with safety being a major factor is a different thing.

Knowing yourself - What kind of temperament do you have, how are your reflexes, how is your gut feel, how quick is your decision making, can you get your wits around quickly, what energy levels do you have, what is your risk taking capacity, what are you biking for - Fun, profession, competition, sports, excursions etc...Objective / goal setting for biking would be an important factor for anyone before taking to biking. Once this is done then one can buy a bike accordingly and then enjoy it to the fullest.

Knowing the bike - Torque, BHP, Balance, braking, pick-up, weight, reliability, handling, blind spots / pitfalls, over speeding hazards, limits. You know your horse, it sails you across and if you do not know your horse, it can dump you anywhere and sometimes at real bad places.

Biking is not about looking at others what they do, it is not about competing all the times, it is not about just impression making, it is about your own self. It’s a feel good factor, it fills in your spiritual quotient of life. It harmonizes your chakras of life if done in an appropriate manner. You got to synchronize yourself with the bike and make your body a part of it and see how you enjoy riding. Biking can surely balance your WLB (Work life balance) if done properly. More to follow......

Your fellow Biker

Riding is just 10% of motorcycling. Rest 90% is what you have deep inside the heart!
Very nicely put up, Captain!
As you say, a bike and a horse have a lot in common.
Hope to see more of your posts, sir!

Now thats a really nicelly written article. There are hordes of discussions about safety gear, riding skill, bike maintainance, riding techniques, technicalities etc. But this is an insight into something different, something which every true biker is essentially made of! Looking forward to more such posts from you Captain Sir

Terse and Crisp. To the point. Thanks for the article.

For me the most important line is :

Quote:
Biking can surely balance your WLB (Work life balance) if done properly.
The countless number of people who ride a motorcycle to work and slog daily need to be made aware of the fact that the key to destressing is already with them!

Looking forward to more from you Captain!

Good short article. Yes, biking is just not about commuting. For most of us, its a way to de-stress. We, in XBHP, love biking from deep within our heart. It's a medium of exploring new places, doing stuff which excites us, keeps us going.

Your love for horses is, but obvious, as you have been & still a gentleman officer. You were a part of an institution which still have deep respect amongst many of us.
Thanks !

great article and nicely written.
I totally agree with the point that it depends on what you are riding for.
although for me it not just a game of heart I would say its about a persons attitude, the way he/she feels about himself/herself, a biker under that helmet is capable of emotions and feats he/she is not even aware of and finally its about the way you treat your Horse......
