why cant our manufacturers make a decent middle segment 250/500 in-line twin? is it cost factor (Manufacturing)? our bikes like P-220 & ZMR can easily take a 250/500 twin engine and perform well with very minor modifications to the chassis & tyres.

Ohh the charity crap.
Am i saying price it lower than what it costs you? I am saying give me a product that is within my budget. And my budget is more than what you sell to masses and lesser than what the super rich have. That is all. I know none of them are here for charity. VW is losing quite a few grands on every polo they sell, heck they lose quite a few of them big ones on every Bugatti they are selling, am not asking people here to do something like that. But just getting products that we want. About ninja, honestly speaking Bajaj never imagined it will do so well, no matter what the sales targets are. @Ken: It is not about instant gratification, it is about seeing progress. My frustration is with this discriminatory and scared-to-experiment nature. And if the barbs of my friend are to be believed at 30, next year, my youth is over. :P thanks for commendation. much appreciated. |

the process you have described is true for every bike you make, not just a 400 cc or 600 cc. A new platform or engine cost millions true. But they all have shelf lifes too. Hero honda has been using the same 100cc engine for the time i was born. Before that Honda used it since my dad was born. Haven't they recovered cost already?
And one more thing, it is called part sharing. The entire pulsar range shares most of the parts, that is one reason it is cheaper than the competition. The entire VW group does it. And, i mean seriously, we have put satellites up there and are planning to put a man up the moon, so it is not "that" tough. The checklists are to make sure you do a process efficiently, not to look at it and say "dan this looks tough, let's chuck it". And there are more hints of there being enough market there at xbhp than anywhere else. |

I understand and know your point perfectly well. And I have ranted in my years too. But I have had my shares of RD and the like. I am telling you, if you have the moolah now, invest in the market, wait for two years. With the money you have made, go and get yourself a honest to goodness real Sbk! Coz your 70bhp is not happening anytime quick here!

I can connect to some of those feelings you mention
Reminiscent of my own experiences with the same manufacturers you mention.@aargee 35-40HP bikes ?? 2 decades ago ? I recall the RD. And its not 35BHP. Any mass produced bike that made 40 horses here in India in late 80s ? Forgive me I was still in kindergarten back then
