what used to be a private air strip some time ago was turned into a place where people were burning rubber and putting in some very hot laps on some real fast bikes.
yes I am talking very much about our own Kari Motor Speedway (KMS) in Coimbatore. After planning for quite some time , finally when everything was fixed and APEX RACING INDIA was able to hold its first exclusive track day. The main man behind the whole idea, our very own Mr Anil, had done a fantastic job by taking this initiative. This step is first of its kind. However we all do track days regularly but this had something extra with it. Yes we were accompanied by a professional racer who was the year 2008 national champion, Sameer Venugopalan, also known as KILLER in the racing fraternity.
We had got him there at special request so that guys who are joining us for the first time can also get their basics right. The event took place in Oct 30/31. As soon as we reached the track we had the introduction session,The monsoon tried to spoil our day but we got lucky and it didn’t rain for both the days when we were busy doing our sessions.
But believe me the weather was perfect for doing track day. No heat scorching sun but cool breeze to refresh you. We got our bikes prepped and after a sighting lap just to make sure what the condition of the track is we were ready for it. Starting from the first session itself all guys started having fun although nobody was pushing.
We even had two very hot and fully souped up bikes, one was the GHOST APACHE of Sameer and the other was the fastest street spec R15 in India which belonged to Joel, who is known for building the fastest 165cc Group B bike ever
So we let these guys go out and do some very hot laps. While we juniors watched them and timed them to get the best lap time.Sameer was very kind enough to bring his video equipment also with him to track so that he can capture the videos and gave feedback to the riders. Anil also got us very good and reasonable stay at a service apartment. So after two hard and fully exhausted days at the track we finally wrapped up the event by some group snaps and with a promise to hold similar events again in near future.

guys the next track day event has been fixed on Jan 22/23 of 2011. I would encourage riders to come forward and make use of this event to the fullest.Already the entries have started to come, so please hurry and book a spot for you.
