Angry Motorcycles are not allowed at Terminal 3 of Delhi Airport !!! Can we do something...

Today I went to newly constructed Terminal 3 of IGI Airport New Delhi to drop my father for his next flight.

This time I was not able to spend too much time with him due to my over busy schedule, also I wanted to see new Terminal so we decided to ditch CAB and go there on my Bike.

When we were about to enter Airport, I heard Aei motercycle from behind, thought that some guard wants to check papers/ticket I stopped my bike.

Instead of coming to me he simply signaled me to come. I went there and he said kaha jaa raha hai, bike allow nahi hai (Where are you going, Bikes are not allowed).
I was like .
Anyway I asked for the reason. continuing his second class treatment to me he said Yahi order hai (Its order).
I said ok , who gave you such orders can I speak to him.
He behaved as if I have asked for both of his kidneys and said (waha baithtey hai jaa ke mil le) (He sits at so and so place, you can go and meet him).

After talking a bit strongly and so many exchange of words he finally connected call to so called security incharge.

Mr Incharge also followed same league and said Its orders not to allow bikes at terminal and cut the phone.

We had no other option but to go on foot. When I offered to carry bag, father said that there is no need, as then we will have to leave bike here and that may attract additional challans.

So I just stood there helplessly, seeing my father carry his bag and walking 600 mts odd flyover to reach terminal

Its not that the bag was very heavy or he is too much old. But still it was my biggest failure as a son..

We all have faced this second class treatments at one point or another
Even if we leave big hotels/establishments as they are private properties and owner may allow/stop entry of vehicles of certain class.

But this incident is highly unacceptable. Airport is public property constructed from tax payed by you and me. So its totally illogical to stop someone without giving any valid reason just because he is travelling on a bike

So I just want to know that what I as a citizen of India and we as a community can do, so that next time I can drop my father right at the terminal with full dignity...

Yeah they do, their logic being bike = less money than car = bike owner is earning lesser than a car owner = stomp on the little guy

this is atrocious !! there more bikes in india than cars.. WTF !!
i think its cause they consider motorcycles = terrorism or something since motorcycles can easily escape.
but whatever logic they have is illogical !! everyone paid to use the airport how can they not allow !! i'm so pissed.. hotels are private so they can distinguish between "alto" owners and bikers but this is senseless !

what do you mean not allowed? your not allowed to the front driveway or directed to a separate two-wheeler driveway but you will be allowed to park and everything.

This is probably why they don't want to have motorcycles as you need a lot of space due to the sheer number of them on the roads.

Thats one thing I love where I live. You take a nice bike to any five star hotel and you get to park it right up front near the entrance. Also since motorcycles dont have a reserved parking here and you can park them on the pavements in front of coffee shops, malls, etc.

I've dropped a friend to T3. The solution to the problem is to go as far as the guards' check post which is right before the ramp, then stop there and wait for the airport shuttle which arrives every 10 minutes or so. Flag down the shuttle (its free) and the passenger can be ferried right up to the terminal.

As for the second-class treatment, I dare say we're all used to it by now.

@all thanks for supporting the cause....

@tanay : this whole incident easily took more than 15 mins, during which I was unable to spot any shuttle.
OK even if assume that this is the standard procedure. then it should be applicable to all the vehicles.

@all I really want to track it to the point where I get a logical reason or Bikes are allowed. Please help me with whatever info you have that how I should proceed..

Participation from senior members is highly appreciated...
