The next line up is the airfilters for the two best performing engines in business. The R15 and Ninja 250R.
The filters are manufactured specially for the R15 and the Ninja 250R. Made by Simota, a very famous airfilter maker. SIMOTA Racing Sports They will replace your existing paper element filter in your airbox and is a direct replacement. Specially made with high temperature resistant rubber insert, it will last you a lifetime. I have been using this personally on my R15 since over a year. The gains in airflow are quite massive and gives linear rise in power. All this keeping the AFR very consistent and the airbox velocity still high for rideability. Most refer to conical airfilters for your fuel injected R15 and Ninja, but they massively disturb the MAP sensor and the mixture goes dangerously lean. Killing power and also engine life. Exhaust valve seat will tend to wear earlier than normal and also wear piston rings and warp cylinder liner. Unless the stage of tune is radical, stock replacement filter make consistent and fool-proof performance. They do not foul your ECU and power delivery will be very visible. Cost of replacing your stock airfilter element, due at every service will no longer be needed. This one will replace your stock filter for life. The stock filter on the Ninja and the R15 are quite restrictive. On a stock engine, they enhance fuel efficiency and give mild gains in performance. AFR need not be altered since the stock ECU can handle the slight bump. NO induction roar and the engine will sound as stock. On the dyno, the R15 makes a noticable bump in power at the wheel. So does the Ninja. Mail me at joel@raceconcepts.in Joel Attached are pics of the R15 and Ninja 250R filters together. Left is R15 and right is Ninja. Last edited by Joel; 04-18-2011 at 10:14 AM. |

Any difference in gains between the K&N and the Simota? At 1.6k + shipping the air filter is very cheap (read as reasonable in pricing and not quality). The K&N cost me some 3k odd rupees.

How to go about cleaning the air filter at regular intervals?

^Its oil type. Since its sitting inside the airbox, it will barely get any dirt. The airflow results indicate higher flow with this simota filter over K&N.
@n_aditya - Most people use conical filter inside the airfilter box and sometimes directly on the throttle body. And foul the ECU. Seperate oil will be provided if you need at an additional cost. |
