Default 2 wheels 3 dimensions

xBhp projects itself into Arun P. Kurup's 3D world to get a glimpse of what a creative motorcyclist can do...

All Artwork by: Arun P. Kurup
A rebel with a cause. A man on a mission. Arun P Kurp is an animation artist by profession, a motorcycle stunter by passion and a perfectionist by obsession. One of the co-founders and core members of the professional stunting team Ghost Ryderz, Arun is as creative in using his motorcycle as he is in creating animation characters. Currently employed in professional capacity with Toonz Animation (Technopark, Kerala) as a Character Rigger Artist, he still can find time to devote to his hobbies that include dancing, drawing, music and soccer.

Arun got into stunting at an early age and as expected, faced dissonance from his family. A practice session crash and the consequent injuries hardened that dissonance to full opposition, threatening to bring his passion to a full stop and so the rebel was born. As pragmatic as he was passionate, the animation world became Arun's vocation and also a creative outlet. He was free to make his characters do anything on the bike, to live the way he wanted them to and nobody would yell at him for it. It became his world within a world.

Machines and their dynamics had always attracted him from as far back as he can recollect. And creating a machine and its rider that oozed character and freedom was an inspired effort. He had no reference starting point so to speak and so developing the concept was a challenge. An easy familiarity with motorcycling over the years worked as the seed and the creatives started flowing. The spiky helmet design compliments the 'attitude' shown through posture. The bike is a fusion of a superbike and a cruiser. Contradictions galore but there where aren't they if not at the edge of creativity. The long wheelbase and steeply raked forks of the bike would apparently make a stoppie well-nigh impossible but some tweaking of the front suspension damping and a mechanism to push the rear when the rider goes for a stoppie would make things work eh! Hide NOS under the seat and you could even surprise the hell out of the devil himself. The absence of texturing is a process of evolution and will accompany animation.

For a man who lives by the motto, "If destiny is 12 ft above ground then a stunter gets there no matter what with precision 12", Arun is there bridging the third dimension with his version of two wheels. Long live the rebellion!
